(Spokane, Wash. - Feb. 28, 2026) - Utah Tech track & field rack up ten top-8 finishes and set six school records after the dust settled at the 2026 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at The Podium in Spokane, WA.

UT recorded their first points of the day in the morning field session at the high jump where senior Lainee Leavitt placed 6th by clearing 1.61m, good enough for three points. Leavitt was the lone Trailblazer to compete in a field event on Saturday.

In the first track event of the day, junior Makayla Pitcher set a school record in the mile with a recorded time of 4:55.02. Pitcher's time was good enough for Utah Tech's second 6th place finish of the day, and another three points on the board.

In the very next event, senior Megan Jenkins tied a school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds. Megan's time placed her 4th best, which put five more points on the board for the Trailblazers.

Junior Averie Perriton would break her second school record of the weekend, this time in the 3000 meter race with a time recorded at 9:49.67. Perriton's time logged another point scoring event for UT, this time two points with the 7th place finish.

The final broken school record of the Championships came in the 4 x 400 relay, where Megan Jenkins, Whitney Christiansen, Kelly Denninghoff, and Hannah Bingham teamed up for a time of 3:49.52 and a 4th place finish. This also resulted in more points for Utah Tech, good for five tallies. 

The Trailblazers had two other point scorers on the final day at The Podium, as freshman Hannah Bingham logged two points by finishing in 7th at the 400 meter, and Whitney Christiansen added a point coming in 8th in the 800 meter.
