The Utah Tech University Athletic Department combined to post a 3.43 grade point average among its 16 varsity sports for the 2025 fall semester. This fall's semester GPA also marked the 17
th-straight semester, and the 22nd semester in the last 24 overall, that Trailblazer student-athletes combined to earn at least a 3.00 GPA.
Â
Last semester's 3.43 GPA is the highest combined GPA in Utah Tech's brief NCAA Division I tenure, and is the second-highest combined GPA in the department's NCAA four-year era overall.
During the 2020 spring semester, Trailblazer student-athletes combined to record a 3.52 GPA, in a semester that was completed during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
Â
In all, 15 of Utah Tech's 16 varsity sports posted at least a 3.18 GPA this past fall, with the women's cross country program leading the way with a department best 3.83 GPA. Seven other programs recorded at least a 3.5 GPA or higher, including women's golf (3.82), women's volleyball (3.80), men's cross country (3.78), women's basketball (3.73), women's soccer (3.66), women's tennis (3.65) and baseball (3.54).
"I am extremely proud of the continued academic achievements of our student-athletes," said
Ken Beazer, Utah Tech Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. "This past semester's department GPA is a true testament of the hard work and dedication our student-athletes put in to excel both athletically and academically.
"In addition, this is a testament to the hard work and dedication continually shown by our academic support staff, our incredible faculty, and our coaches, all of which are valuable contributions to our overall student-athlete academic success," Beazer added.
Â
This past fall, nearly 76 percent of Utah Tech's 373 student-athletes (283-of-373; .7587) recorded at least a 3.2 GPA for eligibility for Western Athletic Conference all-academic honors. Of those 283 student-athletes, 127 Trailblazers carried a 3.50 or higher GPA, with 60 of those student-athletes posting a perfect 4.0 GPA.Â
Â
In addition, 73 student-athletes were included on the Dean's List (3.50-3.89 GPA), and 53 student-athletes making onto the President's List (3.90-4.0 GPA).Â
"This fall marked another near record-breaking semester for our student-athletes," exclaimedÂ
Mike Olson, Utah Tech Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services and Student-Athlete Welfare. "Once again they demonstrated their commitment to high academic success. The highlight of my job is seeing them prepare for successful careers after they are done competing. Well done, Trailblazers!"
