Softball Wins Three Games on Championship Saturday to win RMAC Tournament at Colorado Mesa – 5/4/2019

As the Dixie State softball team entered the final day of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament, the task ahead was much easier said than done: win three games in a row and return to St. George with the 2019 RMAC Tournament Title, as well as an 11th straight bid to the NCAA Division II Regionals. Seven hours after the first pitch of the day, DSU pitcher Cambrie Hazel fired a 1-2 pitch to Colorado Mesa pinch-hitter Tegan Woolsey, whose swing missed for the final out of the championship game. As the pitch hit the glove of Jessica Gonzalez behind the plate, the Trailblazers stormed the pitcher's circle from their positions on the field and from inside the dugout. Hats and gloves flew into the air as Dixie State celebrated its first-ever conference tournament championship, and a mission accomplished. Brody Clifford set a school record with four home runs and tied another with nine RBI to highlight a record-breaking Sunday afternoon in Alamosa, Colorado, as the Trailblazers completed a four-game weekend sweep of Adams State with a 28-9 victory at the ASU Baseball Field. In all, the Trailblazers combined to break or tie a total of 16 single-game records, including new team records for hits (28), doubles (9), home runs (7), extra-base hits (17), RBI (27), at-bats (52) and total bases (60). In addition, DSU's 28 runs scored and its 19-run margin of victory tied the single game records for both set, coincidentally, in another 28-9 victory nearly 10 full seasons ago at home vs. Hawai'i Hilo (3/28/09). Meanwhile, the 37 combined runs scored were tied for second-most in the program's NCAA era.

After giving up six unanswered runs in the early innings of the 2015 NCAA Division II National Semifinals, Dixie State trailed 6-3. DSU had already come further than any other team in the school's Division II era, but it wasn't satisfied. Dixie State countered with seven unanswered runs of its own to claim a 10-6 win and a berth in the National Championship game. Aryn Feickert picked up the crucial victory in relief, allowing just one hit over 5.1 innings pitched. The 2015 squad is still the only team in DSU's Division II era to participate in a National Championship game.

Men's Basketball Win vs. California Baptist – Trevor Hill Steal and Slam in OT – 1/8/2018

Needing a signature win after a bumpy start to the 2017-18 season, the Trailblazers found just that with a home win over rival California Baptist in front of a packed crowd inside the Burns Arena. Despite holding a double-digit lead in the second half, the game went to overtime, where senior guard Trevor Hill took over. Softball Win vs. California Baptist in NCAA West Regionals; Seniors Sprint to Burns Arena for Graduation – 5/8/2015 - WINNER (57% - 43%)

There were two major events beginning on the campus of Dixie State at 11 a.m. on May 8, 2015. In the Burns Arena was the 104th Commencement ceremony for the graduating class of 2015. At Karl Brooks Field, the Dixie State softball team battled Pacific West Conference foe California Baptist in the winner's bracket contest of the 2015 NCAA Division II West 2 Softball Regionals. Thanks to an eight-run second inning and a combined shutout from senior Michelle Duncan and junior Aryn Feickert, the DSU softball team defeated CBU 11-0 in five innings. More fortuitous, the game ended early enough that five members of the softball team were able to cross the street to the arena and graduate with their fellow seniors, still in their game uniforms.

Football Comeback Win at #23 Colorado Mesa – 10/15/2016

Midway through its 11th season as an NCAA Division II member, Dixie State football was still looking for its first win over a nationally-ranked opponent. The Trailblazers had a chance to make a statement at 23rd-ranked Colorado Mesa in October 2016. But after back-to-back turnovers and a blocked punt in the first quarter, it didn't seem likely. However, DSU proved that unlikely did not mean impossible. Dixie State scored the next 35 points and later held on for a 38-31 win on the road to earn what was at that point, the biggest win in the program's Division II era.

Most Division II football experts didn't give Dixie State a chance. But that didn't matter. The Trailblazers made history with a 52-45 win over the Orediggers in a thrilling RMAC shootout. With the game tied at 45-45 late in the fourth quarter, DSU linebacker Abraham Reinhardt snatched an interception to give the home team a final chance to win in regulation. And it did just that. Softball Wins Three Games on Championship Saturday to win RMAC Tournament at Colorado Mesa – 5/4/2019 - WINNER (75% - 25%)
