Utah Tech continues its fall season this upcoming Sunday and Monday at the 2025 Utah Fall Intercollegiate, hosted by Weber State. The two day, 36-hole event will be played at the par-72, 6,200-yard Wolf Creek Golf Club in Eden, Utah.

The Trailblazers will tee it up against four fellow in-state programs, including the host Wildcats, along with Utah Valley, Southern Utah and Westminster.

The five player lineup for the Trailblazers will feature seniors Jenna Anderson and Jane Olson, juniors Samantha Phelan and Mia Cesark, and sophomore Maria Purroy Galan. In addition, freshmen Gabrielle Roznicki and Coryn Tardif will make their season debuts playing as individuals.

HEAD COACH LINDSEY ORTH: Lindsey Orth (Utah Tech, 2007) begins her 10th season as head coach of the Trailblazer women's golf program.
Last season, Coach Orth finished its fifth season of NCAA Division I play with four top-5 showings in nine team events, highlighted by a t-second place finish at the Utah Valley Wigwam Preview in February (2/2-4/25), and a seventh-place showing at the 2025 WAC Championships.
Prior to her arrival at Utah Tech, she served as assistant golf professional at the Sand Hollow Golf Resort, and as an LPGA assistant teaching professional for the City of St. George. Orth also spent two seasons on the coaching staff of the Hurricane High School girl's golf program, including a one-year stint as the Tigers' head coach in the 2010-11 season.
Coach Orth, who is an apprentice member of the LPGA T&CP, played collegiately at the University of Central Arkansas, where she helped lead the Bears to six-consecutive team tournament wins and a Gulf South Conference championship.

RECORD SETTING START TO THE 2025 SEASON: Utah Tech combined to break three school records and tied three more en route to a fourth-place finish at the 2025-26 season-opening Utah Valley Wolverine Invitational, which wrapped up play this past Tuesday afternoon at TalonsCove Golf Course in Saratoga Springs.
The Trailblazers opened the event with consecutive 3-under 285 on Monday to stand in third place overall at minus-6 570, which set a new school record for the lowest 36-hole team score.

The Blazers played their way back into contention during Tuesday's final round (+3 291), but ran into some bad luck later in the day and had to settle for the fourth-place showing at minus-3 861.

The team's combined 861 total shattered the program's 54-hole scoring record by a whopping 12 shots (873 at 2024 Montana State Bobcat Desert Classic).

As they did at last year's UVU season opener, both junior Phelan and sophomore Purroy Galan combined to lead the Trailblazer effort as the duo finished in a three-way tie for sixth place at minus-4 212.

Both Phelan and Purroy Galan's 212 total score also which broke the Utah Tech program record for an individual 54-hole score by one stroke.

Phelan got off to a great start, firing an opening 6-under 66 with seven birdies on Monday morning, and followed that up with a 1-over 73 later in the day with one birdie and 15 pars. In the process, the junior wound up tying both the program's 18-hole and 36-hole scoring records, which placed her in a tie for third place on the leaderboard.

Phelan went on to roll in three more birdies on Tuesday on her way to her second-straight round of 73.

Meanwhile Purroy Galan was just as hot in the early going, carding an opening 4-under 68 with seven birdies of her own, then penciled in three more birdies as part of an even par 72 in round two. The sophomore closed with another 72 with one birdie and 16 pars, which allowed her to remain tied for sixth place for the event.

Cesarek bounced back from an opening 5-over 77 with four birdies as part of a brilliant bogey-free 68 in round two. She then chased that with a 72 with three more birdies to tie two others for 17th at plus-1 217.

Anderson (75-72-74) also rolled in a combined nine total birdies over her three loops, including five as part of a second round 72, as she finished in a four-way tie for 24th at plus-5 221.

Junior Samira Salinas (76-77-76), playing in her first team event as a Trailblazer, carded a combined six birdies during her three rounds on her way to a solo 43rd showing at plus-13 229.

In addition, Olson (77-75-73-225; +9) and redshirt freshman Riley Doherty (81-77-77-235; +19), who made her collegiate debut at the event, placed t-31st and t-52, respectively.

NEXT UP FOR THE TRAILBLAZERS: The Trailblazers will enjoy a month off before traveling to Arkansas to play at the Arkansas State Red Wolves Classic. The two-day, 54-hole event will be played on Oct. 13-14, at Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro.
