(Spokane, Wash. - Feb. 28, 2025) - Utah Tech track & field qualified four Trailblazers for finals and set four program records during the first day of the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at The Podium. As a team, Utah Tech sits in eighth place with four points after Friday's action.
"It was a good day," head coach
Derrick Atkins said. "We have a few ladies in the finals tomorrow and had tons of personal records. The ladies showed up today. We're looking forward to tomorrow."
UT's first points of the championships came in the distance medley relay on Friday night. Redshirt sophomore

Averie Perriton and
Whitney Christiansen finished fifth with a time of 12:07.02 to score four points for Utah Tech. The Trailblazers' time is also a new program record, besting a 12:19.17 DMR run at the 2024 Idaho State-hosted Mountain State Games.
Senior
Lexi Larsen was the first record-setter of the meet for Utah Tech. Larsen finished third in the mile preliminaries with a PR time of 4:56.27 to qualify for the final on Saturday. Larsen broke her previous program record of 4:59.34, set at last season's WAC Indoor Championships.
In the 400 meters, junior
Megan Jenkins and Christiansen qualified for the final tomorrow, clocking 56.05 for seventh and 56.13 for eighth, respectively. Jenkins's time of 56.05 broke Christiansen's former program record of 56.17 set at the ISU-hosted Mountain State Games this season.
Junior
Brittany Kuhn advanced to the final of the 60-meter hurdles after placing eighth with a time of 8.73 in the preliminaries.
Senior
Rashawnna Gibson set a program record in the 60 meters with a time of 7.56 while finishing ninth in the preliminaries. Gibson bested her previous record of 7.61 set at this season's ISU-hosted Snake River Open.
