Utah Tech sophomore women's golfer Samantha Phelan has received a sponsor exemption into the upcoming EPSON Tour's 2025 Copper Rock Championship, which will be played May 15-17, at the Copper Rock Golf Course in Hurricane.

Phelan (5-10; Henderson, Nev./Liberty HS) has played in all six team events this season and currently leads the Trailblazers in stroke average (74.24), thanks in part to a pair of top-five finishes and a team-best six rounds of par-or-better to open the 2024-25 fall season.

The sophomore tied for fifth place at the season-opening Utah Valley Wolverine Invitational (9/8-10/24), and followed that up one week later with a t-fifth showing at the rain-shortened Weber State Kelsey Chugg Inv'l (9/16-17/24).

"We feel pretty lucky to get a sponsor exemption into the Epsom event at Copper Rock again this year," said Utah Tech head women's golf coach Lindsey Orth. "This is an exciting opportunity for Samantha and for our program. Samantha is a fantastic student-athlete and I know she will represent Utah Tech well. I hope some of our student-body and community will get out and support Samantha and women's golf."

Phelan, who is currently majoring in finance, played in eight team events as a true freshman last season and earned 2023-24 Academic all-Western Athletic Conference honors.

Phelan is the third Utah Tech women's golfer in as many years to receive a sponsor exemption to play at the Copper Rock Championship. Junior Jane Olson was the first Trailblazer to tee it up at the event in 2023, while former Blazer Grace Williams was awarded an exemption ahead of the 2024 tournament.
