Utah Tech continues its 2026 fall season with a trip north to Spokane, Wash., to play in the Eastern Washington Kalispel Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event will take place this Monday and Tuesday at the Kalispel Golf and Country Club.

The 14-team tournament field will include the Trailblazers and the host Eagles, along with Boise State, UC Riverside, CSU Bakersfield, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Murray State, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Francisco, and Utah Valley.

The five player lineup for the Trailblazers will feature seniors Mia Cesarek and Samantha Phelan, juniors Maria Purroy Galan and Gabrielle Roznicki, and sophomore Coryn Tardif.  
 
HEAD COACH LINDSEY ORTH: Lindsey Orth (Utah Tech, 2007) is in her 11th season as head coach of the Trailblazer women's golf program. 
        In the program's sixth season of NCAA Division I play, Coach Orth led the Blazers to six top-6 showings in 10 team events, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Utah Fall Intercollegiate (9/14-15/25), and a fifth-place showing in the program's final appearance at the Western Athletic Conference Championships.
        Prior to her arrival at Utah Tech, she served as assistant golf professional at the Sand Hollow Golf Resort, and as an LPGA assistant teaching professional for the City of St. George. Orth also spent two seasons on the coaching staff of the Hurricane High School girl's golf program, including a one-year stint as the Tigers' head coach in the 2010-11 season. 
        Coach Orth, who is an apprentice member of the LPGA T&CP, played collegiately at the University of Central Arkansas, where she helped lead the Bears to six-consecutive team tournament wins and a Gulf South Conference championship.

GOING BIG IN 2026-27: Utah Tech women's golf has begun a new era this season as new members of the Big Sky Conference. 
        Utah Tech was picked to finish seventh in the 2026-27 Big Sky preseason coaches poll, which was released on September 1.
        Northern Arizona received eight of a possible 11 first place votes and 97 total points to be tabbed as the Big Sky preseason favorite, while Montana State collected two first place nods to finish second in the poll with 88 points.
        Northern Colorado garnered one first place vote and 84 points to finish third, followed by Weber State (75 pts) in fourth, Idaho (56 pts) in fifth, Portland State (53) in sixth, Utah Tech (48 pts) in seventh, Idaho State (35 pts) in eighth, Montana (24 pts) in ninth, Southern Utah (23 pts) in 10^th and Eastern Washington (22 pts) in 11^th.
 
LAST TIME OUT: Utah Tech finished in a two-way tie for eighth place at the 2026-27 season opening Utah Valley Wolverine Invitational, which concluded play this past Tuesday at TalonsCove Golf Course in Saratoga Springs. 
        The Trailblazers stood in the middle of the pack in solo sixth place through 36 holes on Monday. Utah Tech began the day by shooting a combined 10-over par 298, which was good for a tie for fourth overall with Idaho State.
        However the Blazers struggled during their afternoon loop, firing an 18-over 306, which dropped them down two spots on the team leaderboard. Utah Tech did rebound on Tuesday, carding a final round 9-over 297, but it was not enough to claw back up in the standings as the Trailblazers finished with a team score of plus-37 901, which tied them with Eastern Washington (309-303-289-901; +37).
 
TRAILBLAZERS AT A GLANCE: On the strength of her 11^th-place finish at the season-opening UVU event, Purroy Galan leads Utah Tech with a 73.33 scoring average with one par-or-better round.
        Meanwhile Phelan is second at 74.66 with one par-or-better round, followed by Cesarek in fourth at 75.33, Roznicki in fifth at 77.67, and Tardif in sixth at 78.00.

NEXT UP FOR THE TRAILBLAZERS: The Trailblazers will enjoy nearly a month off before traveling to Arkansas to play in the Little Rock Diamante Intercollegiate. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played on Oct. 18-20, at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs.
