GIBSON'S ON TRACK
Senior
Rashawnna Gibson has set two program records this season. Gibson knocked 0.03 of a second off her previous school-record time in the 60 meters with a time of 7.61 at the Snake River Open on Jan. 17. In the 200 meters, Gibson broke her second program record of the season as she placed seventh with a time of 25.21 at the Ron Mann Classic.Â
NEW HEIGHTS
With a mark of 1.65 meters (5-5) in the high jump at the Ron Mann Classic, senior
Kylie Bishop broke her previous program record of 1.60 meters (5-3) set during the 2023 WAC Indoor Championships. In the same event, junior
Lainee Leavitt set a personal best with a mark of 1.60 meters (5-3.0), tying for second all-time in Trailblazer history.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah Tech track & field broke two program records and totaled nine top-eight finishes at the Northern Arizona-hosted Ron Mann Classic on Friday, Jan. 31 inside the Walkup Skydome. Bishop set the first program record of the meet with a mark of 1.65 meters (5-5.0) in the high jump. Bishop took second, besting her previous program record of 1.60 meters (5-3.0) set during the 2023 WAC Indoor Championships. Leavitt also set a personal best in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.60 meters (5-3.0) to finish fourth, tying for second all-time in Trailblazer history. Gibson set her second program record of the season as she placed seventh in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 25.21. Gibson broke her own record of 25.27 achieved last season. RETURNERS
Utah Tech brings back 30 returners this season with eight seniors, nine juniors, 12 sophomores and one redshirt freshman. The Trailblazers return nine second-team All-WAC honorees from last indoor season with seniors

NEWCOMERS
The Trailblazers welcome 10 newcomers to the team this season including four distance runners, three sprinters and two transfer distance runners from Southern Utah.

Head coach
Derrick Atkins enters his fifth season at the helm of Utah Tech track & Field in 2025.Â
With his guidance, Utah Tech has set school records in 17 indoor events and 18 outdoor events, with 17 of those records achieved during the 2024 seasons.Â
UT has also excelled academically under Atkins with 10 Trailblazers earning academic all-WAC honors during the 2024 indoor season and 25 Trailblazers earning the same honor during the 2024 outdoor season.

Utah Tech will prepare for the WAC Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28 and March 1 at The Podium in Spokane, Washington.
