Utah Tech enjoyed a solid start to its 2025-26 season with a second place team finish at the Pepperdine Rodionoff Invitational, which concluded on Saturday at the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.
Host Pepperdine maintained its opening day lead and outscored the Trailblazers 358-298 to clinch the win, while San Diego (107 pts) finished third in the Division I portion of the meet.

After claiming four events victories in Friday's first round, Utah Tech won five more races on Saturday.

Cera Mallory accounted for three of the Blazers' nine total wins, including two on Saturday with triumphs in the both the 200-yard (1:53.35) and 500-yard (5:04.34) freestyle events. Mallory also won the 500 free (10:26.78) on Friday.

The Trailblazers added two more individual event wins to their weekend total, with
Mary Sims Cross touching the wall first in the 100 back in 58.04, while
Makaela Perea placed third at 58.52.Â

Meanwhile
Gabby Henry sprinted to victory in the 50 free with a time of 24.00 flat in an event that Utah Tech swept the top-three spots.
Reagan Patterson wound up in second overall at 24.37, followed closely by
Madeleine McGaughy in third at 24.48.

McGaughy was also Utah Tech's top finisher in the 100 butterfly with a third-place 58.02, while
Alyssa Gordon placed third in the 400 IM (4:35.93) and fourth-overall in the 200 breast (2:24.76).Â

In addition, Utah Tech claimed victory in three of the four total relay races, with the team of Mallory,
Sorina Rom, Patterson and
Natalia Zmierczak taking the 400 free relay in a time of 3:30.65 to close the meet.Â
Utah Tech will return to action next weekend with a tri-dual meet at New Mexico State. The Blazers will swim against the host Aggies as well as New Mexico over the two-day dual.Â
