(Orem, Utah - May 9, 2024) - The Trailblazers track and field team opened the WAC Outdoor Championships on Thursday at the Hal Wing Track and Field at Utah Valley with a pair of program records.
A pair of Trailblazers each qualified for the finals in their respective events as both
Megan Jenkins in the 400 meter hurdles and
Lexi Larsen in the 1500 meters will compete in the finals on Saturday.
Jenkins clocked the fastest time in the 400 meter hurdles in the preliminaries with a time of 59.67 taking off over two seconds off of her previous record set two weeks ago at the BYU Robison Invitational.
Larsen recorded the fourth-fastest 1500 meters with a time of 4:37.44 to top her previous best mark (4:39.52) set earlier this season at the Vince O'Boyle Track and Field Classic on March 29.
Day two of the WAC Outdoor Championships get underway on Friday with track events at 3:15 p.m. with the finals of the 3000 meter steeplechase followed by the prelims of the 100 meter hurdles, 800 meters, 400 meters and 100 meters.
