Utah Tech could not overcome three costly errors, which led to a pair of big Arizona rallies, as the Trailblazers remained winless on the road after an 11-2 loss to the Wildcats on Tuesday night at Hi Corbett Field.
Arizona (13-6) led 4-0 after five complete, plating a run in the first before scoring three unearned runs following a two-out Blazer in the fifth.
Utah Tech (7-15) managed to get two of those runs back in the sixth when
Tyson Fisher lined a pinch-hit double down the left field line to score pinch runner
Levi Randall and
Shane Taylor and cut the deficit in half at 4-2.
From there it was all Wildcats as they struck for five runs in the seventh, which were aided by two more Trailblazer miscues, and tallied two more runs in the eighth to put the game away.
Utah Tech will return home for a three-game WAC series this weekend at Bruce Hurst Field. Friday's series opener will start at 6:05 p.m., followed by game two on Saturday at 2:05 p.m., and Sunday's series finale at 12:05 p.m.
