WSOC set to host South Dakota Sunday

KICK OFF
• Utah Tech will host the first of a five game home streak on Sunday, Sept. 4  against South Dakota.

UTAH TECH 2022 SEASON QUICK STATS:
• Utah Tech has two goals on the season from 32 shots with 14 shots on frame.
• Utah Tech averages 10.7 shots per game and has a total of one assist.
• The Trailblazers have 11 saves on the season and have allowed four goals
• Utah Tech has a 1-2 overall record and is sitting at No. 9 in the WAC standings.

COACHING STAFF: Molly Rouse (Minnesota, 2012) is in her third season as Utah Tech head coach. Rouse now has a 10-25-3 record as a head coach. Rouse brought back with her volunteer assistant coach Lindsey Dare and added assistant coaches Kelsey Fausett and Dane Obermeyer.

POSTSEASON TOURNAMENT ELIGIBILITY: As of Summer 2022 the WAC Board of Directors voted as of the 2022-23 season to allow newcomers to the WAC, Tarleton State and Utah Tech, to compete for all conference tournaments. Utah Tech University is in it's third year of a four year transitionary period into Division I and the Western Athletic Conference.

FIRST GOAL: Utah Tech senior Lauren Buxton notched the team's first goal of the year in the season opener against Colorado State on August 18. Buxtons goal was her third of her career.

MOST RECENT GOAL:  Against St. Thomas, junior, Karli Nyland recorded the goal in the 1-0 St. Thomas victory. This is her first goal as a Trailblazer and the only game winner of the season thus far.

2022 ROSTER BREAKDOWN: The Trailblazers return 15 players from the 2021 team this season, welcome in 14 freshmen and six transfers. Among the returners are the teams 2021 leader in saves, senior goalkeeper Kayla Thompson, captain Lauren Buxton and 2021 team leading goalscorer Kalea Woodyatt. Also returning are McKinley Barney, Shaylynn Uyeshiro and Emily Garbett who eached logged over 1,000 minutes of play last season.

KNOW YOUR FOE SOUTH DAKOTA:
The Trailblazers have never faced South Dakota in the program's history making Sunday's match the first match up. South Dakota has a 1-3-1 overall record on the season. They are lead by Shaylee Gailus who has three goals on the season. Taylor Cotter is also an offensive force for the Yotes. She has nine total shots with five on frame with two recorded goals. In the net for the Yotes is Caroline Lewis. She's started in all five games and recorded 17 saves and allowed eight goals.
