Utah Tech Drops Home Finale to Northern Arizona Sunday Afternoon

(St George, UT – Oct 18, 2026) – Utah Tech women's soccer falls in their final home match of the 2026 season 2-0 to Northern Arizona on Sunday afternoon.

Like Thursday's first half, both teams were feeling each other out, not generating many scoring chances. Both sides were able to muster five shots, but only two total on target and both were by the Trailblazers (7-6-2, 3-2-1 Big Sky).

Both Trailblazer shots on goal came just under 40 seconds apart, as Nicole Choren and Ella Rusick tested both sides of the Northern Arizona (7-4-3, 3-0-1 Big Sky) netminder, but were turned away.

The first half ended scoreless, with most statistics being even besides Utah Tech owning the corner advantage 2-1.

NAU started the second half on the aggression, getting the first three shots off. The third came off the foot of Valerie Llamas, set up by the Big Sky Preseason Player of the Year, Micala Boex, who then got a shot past Emma McIff for the first time in three matches, to open the scoring and give the Lumberjacks the lead.

The Lumberjacks kept the pressure on, and Valerie Llamas found herself with the ball in a dangerous area yet again. She was able to create enough space, and put another one in the back of the net to double the NAU lead.

The Trailblazers would then ramp up the pressure, generating some dangerous chances, but NAU keeper Lexi Saveski was able to keep UT off the scoreboard, recording her league-leading seventh shutout.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
UT and NAU now pull into a second place tie with each other after today's results.

The Trailblazers held NAU to 1 corner kick, the fifth time they've held an opponent to just 1

Blazers finish the season with a 5-3-1 home record
