Utah Tech wraps up its 2022 fall slate this weekend at the Pacific-hosted Visit Stockton Invitational in Stockton, Calif. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played Thursday-through-Saturday at the par-71, 6,566-yard Stockton Golf and Country Club.

In addition to UT and the host Tigers, the 15-team tournament field will include fellow WAC member Grand Canyon, along with George Washington, Sacramento State, Washington State, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, Temple, Cal State Fullerton, UC Santa Barbara, CSUN, UC Riverside, Fresno State and Idaho.

The five player lineup for the Trailblazers will feature seniors Davis Heslington and Tyler Jones, sophomore Taft Lewis, and freshmen Zach Felts and Parker Reese

HEAD COACH BRAD SUTTERFIELD: Brad Sutterfield (Brigham Young, 1994) is in his 11th season as head coach of the Utah Tech men's golf program. Last season, Sutterfield led the Trailblazers to three top-10 team finishes in 10 events, highlighted by a fifth-place showing at the SUU Pizza Hut/Pat Hicks Inv'l.
In the 2018-19 campaign, Coach Sutterfield and the Trailblazers enjoyed arguably their most successful season in the program's four-year era, posting six top-five team finishes and 11 total top-10 showings in 12 total team events, highlighted by a wire-to-wire victory at the 2019 NCAA Division II Men's Golf South Central/West Regional Championships. UT also placed ninth-overall at the 2019 NCAA National Championships and recorded a runner-up finish in its debut at the RMAC Championships.
In 2018, Sutterfield led UT to its third Pacific West Conference team title in four seasons, which earned him his second conference Coach of the Year award. The Trailblazers collected four tournament wins overall that season, along with seven-straight top-three team finishes and nine total top-10s in nine events overall.
Under his direction, the program finished in the top-three overall in the PacWest in six seasons overall, including consecutive PacWest team titles in 2015 and 2016, and a runner-up finish in 2014, for which Sutterfield was named conference Coach of the Year. Prior to his arrival at Utah Tech, Sutterfield, who played collegiately at BYU, played professional golf for 15 years as a member of the PGA Tour, European Tour, the Web.com Tour, Canadian Tour, Asian Tour and European Challenge Tour.

LAST TIME OUT:  Utah Tech continued its 2022 fall season with a 15th-place showing at the Oregon State Invitational played this past Oct. 10-11, at the Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis.
After waiting through a fog delay on Monday morning, the Trailblazers began tournament play with an opening plus-16 300 to stand in a two-way tie for 12th. UT followed that up with its low round of the event with a 12-over 296, which was completed on Tuesday morning after the round was suspended Monday evening due to darkness.
Despite the four-stroke improvement in their second loop, the Blazers fell three spots to 15th and they could not make up any ground on the field as a final round 19-over 303 kept the team in that spot at plus-47 899.
Kansas State (285-278-286) was the lone team in the field that finished in red numbers at minus-3 849 to win the team title, 14 shots clear of runner-up Washington State (284-284-295-863; +11), while Tarleton State (290-288-287-865; +13) placed third.
Heslington (70-73-74) posted his second top-20 showing of the fall as he joined five others tied for 17th at plus-4 217. Heslington opened with a 1-under 70, which he followed up with a second round 2-over 73 and a 3-over 74 on Tuesday. The sophomore also tied for 17th-overall in the 84-player field in total birdies with nine.
Felts (77-72-74) bounced back from an opening 5-over 77 with a 1-over 72 on his second loop, and a final round 74 to finish t-44th at plus-10 223. Reese (78-77-76) followed in t-72nd at plus-18 231, and Jones (75-81-79) and freshman Maddox Vincent (81-74-8) tied for 79th at plus-22 235.

TRAILBLAZERS AT A GLANCE: Through three fall events, Heslington leads the team with a 71.89 scoring average and a team-best four par or better rounds, highlighted by his medalist performance at the USAFA Miranda individual tournament.
Felts is second at 72.56 with three par or better rounds in nine total loops, which includes a t-sixth showing at the USAFA Miranda in his first collegiate event.
Lewis is fourth at 75.17 with two par/better rounds, followed by Jones in fifth (75.67; two par/better rounds) and Reese in sixth (76.33; one par/better round).

NEXT UP FOR THE TRAILBLAZERS: Utah Tech will kick off the 2023 spring schedule in St. George at the Southern Utah-hosted Pizza Hut/Pat Hicks Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Course on February 10-12.
