Dixie State women's basketball head coach JD Gustin has announced the signing of guard Taylia Stimpson, a transfer from Georgetown, and Talia Sireni, a transfer from San Diego State, will join the Trailblazers for the 2021-22 season.
"We feel like we've added two very competitive players that are excited and motivated to help our team compete at its maximum level," Gustin said.Â

Stimpson, a 5-foot-10 guard from Paul, Idaho is transferring from Georgetown. While at Georgetown she played in 13 games and started in three. She averaged 1.5 points per game and one rebound per game. She recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds in the 13 games she played. She also recorded six steals. Before Georgetown, Stimpson played at the College of Southern Idaho where she was the team's second leading scorer averaging 11 points per game and five rebounds per game as a freshman. She shot 48 percent from the field, 32 percent from the three and 85 percent from the line in her time at CSI. While at CSI she earned First-Team All Conference in the SWAC.Â

During her prep career she was a three-year starter at Minico serving as captain her senior season. She was named The Times-News Big School Girls Basketball Player of the Year as well as the 2019 Magic Valley Player of the Year. She averaged 16 points per game, six rebounds a game and five steals per game. She helped her team to four consecutive state tournament appearances.Â

"I chose Dixie State because I found a home and family within the people here," Stimpson said.Â

Sireni, a 5-foot-9 guard from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada is transferring from San Diego State. While at San Diego State, in two seasons, she played 23 games and played over 100 minutes. She shot .350 from the field, .500 from beyond the arc and .909 percent from the free throw line.Â

During her prep career she was a three-star recruit according to Prospects Nation, Sireni averaged 29 points, eight assists and eight rebounds per game her senior season at Earl Marriott Secondary School while shooting 81 percent from the free-throw line. She helped her team advance to the British Columbia Provincial Championships in 2017. She was named her high school team's MVP four times, including as an eighth grader. Received the Surrey Firefighter Tournament Dream Team Award her junior and senior seasons. She has represented British Columbia on the Provincial Team, helping them earn a silver medal in 2016. She played for the VK Basketball Club (Vancouver), who she helped win the Bball National championship in the summer of 2018. She was an honor roll student and ran track where she competed in the 100 and 400 meter dashes.
