Utah Tech head women's basketball coach
JD Gustin announced on Friday a pair of new administrative additions to his program ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Gustin has appointed former Trailblazer Athletics administrator Mo Eckroth as the program's new general manager, while Erasto "Tito" Cortes joins the program as its new director of basketball operations.
Eckroth returns to the Trailblazer Athletics Department after she served as senior associate athletic director, senior woman administrator, and compliance coordinator from 2006 until her retirement in 2024.
Eckroth hails from Salt Lake City and is an alumnae of the University of Utah, where she was a four-year starter on the women's basketball team. Following her collegiate career, she was the first round pick of the Iowa Cornets in the 1979 Women's Professional Basketball League Draft.
Before her arrival to Utah Tech, Eckroth was an assistant coach for the University of Utah's women's basketball team, and later served four seasons as head women's basketball coach at New Mexico from 1991-95, including the first season the Lobo program's reinstatement in 1991-92.
Eckroth earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Utah and a Master's degree in Sports Administration from the University of New Mexico.
"We are thrilled to welcome Mo to our program as our general manager," Coach Gustin said. "Mo brings a wealth of experience, connection to women's basketball, and a deep understanding of what it takes to support a successful Division I program. Her leadership, organization, and passion for the student-athlete experience will elevate everything we do both on and off the court."
Cortes traveled west to St. George from Washington, D.C., where he served as a graduate team manager and practice player with the Georgetown University women's basketball program during the 2024-25 season.
A native of El Paso, Texas, Cortes earned his Bachelor's degree in Accounting at Texas Tech in 2024. During his time at TTU, he was a practice player of the Lady Raiders women's basketball team, and was a basketball referee for the TTU campus recreation department.
Cortes, who will complete work on his Master's degree in Sports Industry Management at Georgetown this fall, also served as a varsity basketball manager and assistant coach at Kingdom Prep Academy in Lubbock, Texas, and as an assistant trainer at Hub City Hoops/Josh Washington Elite in Lubbock.
"We are grateful to have Tito join our program and take the lead with our day-to-day, and specifically game day basketball operations," says Coach Gustin. "He will be a huge asset to our program."
