First year Utah Tech head women's basketball coach
Adam Wardenburg announced on Friday the addition of former College of Southern Idaho forward
Maci Hess to a financial aid agreement ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Hess played one season with the Golden Eagle program and has three years of eligibility remaining.
"Maci is a big time athlete who is going to provide a ton of energy for us," Coach Wardenburg said. "She is a workhorse on the court and will make us better on and off the court. She will be great for us in building our championship culture and we are excited for her to become the best version of herself. We are very excited to have Maci!"
Hess (5-10; Gilbert, Ariz.), who was a teammate of fellow 2026-227 Trailblazer signee Savannah Stoker, played in all 34 games with three starts in her debut collegiate season in Twin Falls. She helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 29-5 overall record, a Scenic West Conference and Region 18 championship, and to the quarterfinal round of the 2026 NJCAA National Championship Tournament.
The sophomore-to-be averaged 6.8 points on 47.5 percent shooting and 3.2 rebounds per game. Hess scored in double figures in six of those outings, highlighted by a career-high 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting with nine rebounds in a home rout of Colorado Northwestern CC (1/22/26).
Hess also posted her first collegiate double-double in her second career game, scoring 15 points on 7-of-9 from the floor with a career-best 10 boards in a home triumph over Central Wyoming (11/1/25).
A native of Gilbert, Ariz., Hess played her high school ball at Perry High School, where she helped lead the Pumas to a 2024 Arizona 6A state runner-up finish. Hess averaged 14.0 points on nearly 54 percent shooting and 5.0 rebounds during her senior campaign, and finished her two-year varsity prep career with an 11.1 ppg average.
