Utah Tech head women's basketball coach
JD Gustin announced on Thursday that local Region 9 standout post player
Annalyse Shimada has joined the Trailblazer program ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Shimada (6-0; Kanarraville, Utah) was a three-time Utah 4A all-state and all-region selection at Cedar High School, where she averaged 12.7 points and 6.5 rebounds this past season, and helped lead the Lady Reds to a 14-9 record and a state tournament quarterfinal appearance.
The freshman-to-be scored in double figures in 15 of 20 games played during her senior campaign with four double-doubles, highlighted by season highs of 22 points and 13 rebounds in a four-point home win over Desert Hills back in December (12/17/24).
Shimada closed her three-year prep career with 799 points (12.7 ppg) and 373 rebounds (5.7 rpg) in 65 games with eight total double-doubles. She also earned all-region and all-state honors in volleyball, and was Region 9's blocks leader in 2024.
"We are excited that Annalyse has joined our team," said Coach Gustin. "As a dominate dual sports high school athlete, she brings an athleticism and work ethic that could really help our program."
Shimada joins a Trailblazer signing class that includes 2024 fall signee
Merceius Mili from Skyridge (UT) High School, and 2025 spring signee
Rose Boisnel from France.
