Utah Tech stands in the middle of the pack in sixth place after the first round of play at the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships on Friday at the Golf Club at Chapparal Pines in Payson, Ariz.
The Trailblazers opened with a 14-over par 302, two strokes clear of a log-jam for seventh place between Abilene Christian (304; +16), Southern Utah (304; +16), and Utah Valley (304; +16).Â

Seattle U sits atop the leaderboard at plus-2 290, three shots ahead of second place Grand Canyon (293, +5). Tarleton State (297; +9) is four strokes back in third place after 18 holes, followed by UT Arlington (300, +12) and California Baptist (300; +12) in t-fourth.Â

Ashton McArthur paced the Trailblazers on Friday with a 2-over 74 to join nine others tied for 10
thplace. McArthur went out in 1-over 36 before carding a pair of birdies on his back nine.

Zach Felts got off to a great start with consecutive birdies, but managed only one red number over his final 16 holes as finished day in a nine-way tie for 18
th at plus-3 75.Â

Sophomore
Jackson Rhees penciled in one birdie and 15 pars, but a hard-luck quadruple bogey on the longest hole on the course, the par-5 seventh measuring at 624 yards, led him to settle for a four-way tie for 27
th at plus-4 76.

Tanner Telford wound up one shot back of Rhees in t-31
st at plus-5 77, and sophomore
KJ Ofahengaue followed in 45
th at plus-13 85.Â
