Utah Tech head men's golf coach Brad Sutterfield announced on Wednesday that he will be adding a familiar face to his coaching staff as former Trailblazer standout Spencer Wallace joins the program ahead of the upcoming 2024-25 season.

"We are thrilled to have Spencer return to our men's golf program as our new assistant coach," Coach Sutterfield said. "Spencer was one of the most outstanding players in our program's history, and he has continued to excel in both his playing and teaching career.

"Over the past few years, he has honed his teaching and player development skills by collaborating with renowned swing instructors," Sutterfield added. "We eagerly anticipate his leadership and expertise in propelling our program to new heights."

Wallace played five seasons for Trailblazers from 2017-22, during which he teed it up in 41 events and fired par-or-better rounds in 43 of his 120 career loops. He is currently tied for fourth all-time in program history in career top-10s (10) and is eighth in career stroke average (74.06), including a 72.57 scoring average in 21 rounds during the 2019-20 season, which is third-lowest on Utah Tech's single season scoring list.

Wallace was a two-time all-conference performer during his five season. He was named 2017-18 Pacific West Conference Freshman of the Year, and earned third team all-PacWest honors, as he helped lead the Trailblazers to a 2018 conference title.

He also earned second team all-RMAC recognition one year later in 2018-19, in a season that saw Utah Tech play to a runner-up finish at the RMAC Championship. The Trailblazers chased that performance with their first NCAA Division II Regional Championship title, followed by a ninth-place team finish at the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championships.

A native of Layton, Utah, Wallace graduated from Utah Tech in 2022 with a Bachelor's degree in Communication.
