(Pocatello, Idaho – Feb. 9, 2024) - Highlighted by four program records and seven top eight finishes on Friday, the Trailblazer track and field team got action underway at the Mountain State Games hosted by Idaho State at the ICCU Dome.
Leading the way for the Trailblazers was freshman
Whitney Christiansen in the 400 meters who raced to a preliminary-best time of 56.58 to set a new program record in the event.
Junior
Rashawnna Gibson set a new program record in the 200 meters with a time of 25.27 to qualify for Saturday's finals. She also chalked up a top-eight time in the 60 meters with a time of 7.77 finishing third in the prelims.
The distance medley relay team of
Lexi Larsen,
Sadie Edwards,
Addi Wyatt and
Mariah Skinner finished second in the field with a program-best time of 12:19.17.
Finally, in the long jump, freshman
Mackenzie Bradach recorded a leap of 5.10m (16-8.75) to set a new mark in the event surpassing the previous record of 4.99m (16.375) set by Gibson in 2022.
The Trailblazers wrap up action at the Mountain State Games on Saturday with field events starting at 10 a.m. and running events getting underway at 12:15 p.m.
