(Albuquerque, N.M. – Feb. 19, 2024) - The Trailblazer indoor track and field team wrapped up the opening day of the WAC Indoor Championships hosted at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Utah Tech notched five points as a team on day one earning three points in the distance medley relay and a pair of points in the 5000 meters.
The DMR team of
Mariah Skinner,
Sadie Edwards,
Savannah Eatough and
Lexi Larsen finished sixth with a time of 12:25.28 while freshman
Averie Perriton came in seventh in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:25.74.
In addition to the two finals, three more Blazers punched tickets to the finals in their respective events on Tuesday.
Larsen, a junior from Draper, Utah, clocked the fastest time in the prelims in the mile setting a new program record with a time of 4:59.34.
Junior
Addi Wyatt clocked a time of 2:16.81 for the second-fastest time in the prelims of the 800 meters after earning All-WAC honors in the event in 2023.
Finally, sophomore
Ashlyn Parish came in with the seventh-fastest time in the prelims of the 60 meter hurdles registering a time of 8.76.
Day two of the WAC Indoor Championships gets underway on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with the field events followed by the finals in the mile, 800 meters & 60 meter hurdles as well as the 3000 meters and 4x400 meter relay starting at 1:30 p.m.
