Utah Tech men's golf kicked off the 2023-24 campaign with a t-12
th place finish at the Colorado State Ram Masters Invitational, which wrapped up play on Thursday afternoon at the Fort Collins Country Club.
After opening with a 13-over par 293 on their opening loop on Wednesday morning, the Trailblazers closed out with consecutive rounds of 18-over 298 to finish with a final team total of plus-49 298.
Long Beach State (270-280-275-825; -15) ran away with the team title, besting the host Rams (281-269-286-836; -4) by 11 strokes, while Cal State Fullerton (279-274-288-841; +1) wound up in third overall.
Sophomore
Zach Felts (73-71-72) was the top Trailblazer at the event, finishing in a four-way tie for 25
th at plus-6 216. Felts carded a 3-over 73 in round one, then rebounded to fire the Blazers' low round of the tourney, a 1-over 71 on Wednesday afternoon, before closing with a 2-over 72 on Thursday.
Fifth year senior
Tyler Jones (75-73-74) tied for 48
th-overall at plus-12 222, followed by freshman
KJ Ofahengaue (75-75-75) in t-56
th at plus-15 225 in his first collegiate event, senior
Camron Saunders (72-79-77) in t-61
st at plus-18 228, and sophomore
Parker Reese (73-79-82) in 68
th at plus-24 234. In addition, sophomore
Maddox Vincent (82-73-81) placed 72
nd at plus-26 236.
The Trailblazers will stay in the "Centennial State" through the weekend as they will head south to the Colorado Springs to play in the 54
th-Annual Air Force Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational this Sunday-through-Tuesday.
