Zac Hales Hired as Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach

A St. George Native, Hales was a four-year starter during his career at Utah Tech.

(St. George, Utah – Aug. 22, 2023) With the season just around the corner, Utah Tech men's soccer head coach Jonny Broadhead announced on Tuesday the addition of Zac Hales to his coaching staff.

"We are thrilled to have Zac join our program as an assistant coach. He put four years of blood, sweat and tears into this program as a student-athlete, so to have someone like that motivating and teaching the boys is something I want on our staff," Broadhead said. "Zac's perspective as an alumnus will be invaluable to our current student-athletes and his experience as a coach since then is something this program will benefit from."

Hales brings over a decade of coaching experience to the Trailblazer men's soccer program, with experience at the high school and club levels. He currently serves as the Director of Player Development for Fire FC, a club team based in St. George, and also won five Region Championships across 12 seasons on the coaching staff at Snow Canyon High School.

"I'm very excited to be back at Utah Tech," Hales said. "I'm grateful to Coach Broadhead for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to growing alongside this program and institution."

Along with these experiences, Hales coached as part of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) for the state of Utah.

An All-Conference selection during his first season at then Dixie State in 2008, Hales finished his career with seven goals and four assists as a four-year starter, and won a Region Championship while playing at Dixie High.

Trailblazer men's soccer is set to begin play in the 2023 season with Aug. 24 regular season opener at San Francisco.
