The Utah Tech women's basketball program will embark on its first-ever foreign trip next week when the Trailblazers travel to Greece August 10-16. The trip will include two exhibition games, along with numerous sightseeing and team bonding activities.

The trip itinerary includes tours of the Kallimarmaro Olympic Stadium, which was the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, the Acropolis of Athens and its museum, and a boat excursion to the Greek islands of Hydra, Poros and Aegina. 

The Trailblazers will also play a pair of exhibition games, starting with a match-up against the Amilia Peristeriou Basketball Club on Saturday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m. Athens time (9:30 a.m. MT). Prior to that game, the team will conduct a youth basketball clinic with an expected 15-20 participants taking part. 

Utah Tech will play its final exhibition game vs. the Athens All-Stars on Monday, August 14 at 7 p.m. Athens time (10 a.m. MT).

"We are grateful for the university allowing us to do this, it's been quite a process," Utah Tech Head Women's Basketball Coach JD Gustin said. "We raised some great money and had some great conversations with people on campus. Just the opportunity for the school let us [travel] was a big deal for us and we appreciate that.

"For us, this trip is not necessarily as much about the games, it's more about team building," Coach Gustin added. "[The trip] is about getting to know each other and it's a head start on our season. We have a lot of returners, we a lot of experience, and we're trying to build on that and get a head start in our preparation for WAC play."

Per NCAA rules, college teams are allowed to make an international trip once every four years. Additionally, the team is allotted an extra 10 practices in preparation for the trip.
