Trailblazer Men's Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule

After two home exhibitions the team is set to play 16 regular season games, six of which will be at Greater Zion Stadium.

(ST. GEORGE, Utah – July 27, 2023) Utah Tech men's soccer announced its schedule for the fall of 2023 on Thursday, with the team set to play 16 matches in the upcoming regular season – five of which will be at Greater Zion Stadium.

"We're really looking forward to our fourth year at the Division-I level. This year's non-conference schedule sees us play three programs for the first time ever while matching up with other schools who we hold a 3-3 overall record against," head coach Jonny Broadhead said. "Including this year's contests, our program will have played against teams from conferences such as the Big West, West Coast Conference, Ohio Valley Conference, Big East, Big Ten and Pac-12. We certainly have been able to see plenty of the country and its talent!"

There are two preseason games that will be played prior to the regular season, as Westminster College (Aug. 17) and Colorado Mesa University will make the trip to Greater Zion Stadium for exhibitions.

"I'm happy we'll get the chance to play two exhibition games at home," Broadhead said. "Westminster and Colorado Mesa are two top-level Division-II programs that will help us prepare for our first weekend in Northern California."

The regular season begins with five-consecutive road matches, starting with an Aug. 24 contest at the University of San Francisco that is followed by an Aug. 27 game at St. Mary's in Moraga, Calif. The California tour continues with an Aug. 31 contest at Sacramento State and concludes with a Sept. 3 game at UC Davis. The stretch of road games is set to conclude with a single contest at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., on Sept. 10.

Greater Zion will play host to its first men's soccer match on Sept. 14, as the Roadrunners of California State University Bakersfield will come to southern Utah for a game; three days later, on Sept. 17, Utah Tech will host another game, this time facing Gonzaga.

After two games at home, the team will head right back into California for more games, this time heading to San Diego to face San Diego State for a Sept. 21 contest before playing the UC San Diego Tritons on Sept. 23.

"Playing against San Diego State will be a tremendous opportunity for our guys to play in a large venue like Snapdragon Stadium," Broadhead said. "These types of non-Conference opponents will do a great job in helping us prepare for our WAC schedule."

Conference play begins with another road contest on Oct. 1, as Utah Tech will head east to face UT Arlington before coming back home for its next two. Utah Valley will be in St. George for an Oct. 5 contest and then San Jose State is set to play at Greater Zion Stadium on Oct. 8.

With a road contest against UNLV slated for Oct. 12, it's back home for an Oct. 15 matchup against Air Force before hitting the road for two more; UT will travel to Phoenix, Ariz., to play Grand Canyon on Oct. 19 before facing California Baptist on Oct. 22.

Seattle U is set to play in St. George for the regular season finale on Oct. 26, and the 2023 WAC Men's Soccer Championships are scheduled for early November.

Ticketing and broadcast information will be made available at a later date.
