Utah Tech women's track & field had an impressive showing at the NAU Ron Mann Classic on Friday afternoon.
What Head Coach
Derrick Atkins said: "We are just trying to get better each week. This week we did well, we finished 2nd and 3rd in the 800, Addi [Wyatt] finished 2nd in the meet in the 800. Now we move to cleaning up. We continue to work and continue to build. The goal is to clean up some stuff and getreally sharp. Getting prepared mentally before the conference championships is key."
WHAT HAPPENED: Utah Tech women's track & field started out the day at the 200m race where
Mary Fallon finished 7th overall for the third fastest finish in school history at 26.38.
Following that up, Megan Jenkins set the second fastest time in school history in the 400m. She raced a 1:00.26 time which was good for fourth place on the day. Additionally, Kelly Denninghoff raced a 1:00.29 for the third best in school history and Alanynah Reed at 1:00.24 for fourth best in school history.
Next up was the 800m which had impressive showings all around, with four times in the top 10 in school history. Addi Wyatt set a new record in the 800 with a 2:17.94 time. She is now 5th in the WAC in the 800m. Sadie Edwards finished third on the day in the 800 at 2:20.74.
Three more Trailblazers raced top finishes in the 800m. Lexi Larsen raced 2:23.54, Camilla Hamilton 2:24.73 and Savannah Eatough 2:29.44 for the 6th, 7th and 11th best times in school history.
Four Trailblazers raced in the mile which was led by Lexi Larsen who ran a 5:19.21. Additionally, Kirstin Williams led the way in the 3000m after finishing with the 4th best time in program history at 10:59.49.
Utah Tech raced three relay teams and had a school best from the A team. The team made up of Jenkins, Wyatt, Denninghoff and Reed finished in 4:02.08. Additionally, B team of Edwards, Yadon, Fallon and Hamilton finished in 4:09.36 and Crawford,, Lloyd, Parish and Eatough rounded out the C team with a 4:14.67.
To end the day the Trailblazers competed in their lone field event, the high jump, which led to more top 10 records being broken. Morgan Callens and Kylie Bishop cleared 1.52m. Lainee Leavitt cleared 1.47m.
UP NEXT: Utah Tech will head to the 2023 WAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 24 in Spokane, WA.
