Utah Tech wrapped up the 2022-23 regular season on Saturday at the UNLV First Chance Invite at the Rebels' Buchanan Natatorium in Las Vegas. The Trailblazers posted several solid marks in their final tune-up before the 2023 WAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in two weeks.
Redshirt sophomore
Reese Hazan clocked two top-10 UT all-time results, the first came in winning the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 51.64 (#8 all-time at UT). Hazan went on to record a 1:59.71 (#7 all-time at UT) in the 200 back time trial, which eclipsed her previous season-best time by nearly 10 seconds.
Junior
Pia Murray also got into the act, swimming in the 500 free for the first time this season and came away with a time of 4:59.36. That result tied the third-fastest mark in program history and was the team's second-fastest time this season.
Several other Blazers posted season-best times, including sophomore
Paulina Sansores in the 200 IM (2:09.35), freshman
Natalia Zmierczak in the 50 free (24.10), freshman
Lily Magda (1:57.06) and sophomore
Mandy Farnum (1:57.31) in the 200 free, and juniors
Gabbie Adams (54.29),
Skyler Lyon (54.96) and
Danyael Cuison (57.22) in the 100 free.
Utah Tech will prepare for the 2023 WAC Championships, which will be held on Feb. 22-25, in Pharr, Texas.
