Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

WSOC remains unbeaten with 0-0 tie at Tarleton State

Utah Tech women's soccer has remained unbeaten thanks to a 0-0 tie with Tarleton State on Friday night.

What Head Coach Molly Rouse said: "Overall, we are pleased with tonight's team performance. Going on the road and facing tough WAC competition is mentally and physically demanding. It was encouraging to see our team create enough quality chances, while limiting and managing several solid chances against. We knew Tarleton would challenge us to have a complete team performance and tonight we fell just short in final third execution. That being said, we are pleased to come away from the match with a point, which is important at any road competition. As always, we will use this as a learning opportunity and strive to be better on Sunday against Abilene Christian."

HOW IT HAPPENED: Utah Tech wasted no time with a strong attack with a shot on goal by Lauren Buxton in just the third minute.  Karli Nyland followed that with a shot that was high and right.

In the tenth minute, the Texans placed a ball on frame but Kayla Thompson came away with the save.

Nyland placed a shot on frame in the 10th minute but couldn't get the execution. It wasn't until the 27th minute that either team was able to get a shot off and it was Trailblazer Abigail Allard. Allard's shot made it on frame but couldn't get past TSU's keeper.

Thompson ended the half with one more save in the 37th minute sending the match into halftime with a 0-0 score.

It wasn't until the 68th minute that Utah Tech was able to get another shot on frame. Savannah Stauffer sent one towards the net but the Texans notched a save. In the final five minutes Utah Tech had two solid chances with Indie Winterton getting a shot on goal and Shaylynn Uyeshiro firing off a shot.

The game ended with neither team coming away with a goal and Utah Tech remained unbeaten for the seventh consecutive game.

STAT BREAKDOWN:  In total Utah Tech had 12 shots with six shots on frame. While Tarleton State had 11 total shots with just four on frame.

Kayla Thompson started in goal and played the full 90 for UT and ended the game with four saves.

NOTES TO KNOW:
Utah Tech now has a 6-2-1 record overall on the season and 2-0-1 in WAC action. The Trailbalzers are on a seven game unbeaten streak and have 662 consecutive shutout minutes. All of Utah Tech's victories this season have been shutouts.

Utah Tech is just one of three teams to have an unbeaten streak seven or longer.

UP NEXT: Utah Tech will stay on the road to take on Abilene Christian Sept. 25 before taking on Southern Utah on the road Oct. 2. The Trailblazers return home Oct. 7 to take on Sam Houston State.
