Dixie State came away with a 12
th place finish at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday at the Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, Calif.
DSU battled gusty winds during Monday's first round to open with a 14-over 302 to stand in ninth place. However the Monday afternoon round would be canceled due to those gusty winds. The Trailblazers then closed the event with a 17-over 305, which dropped them three spots on the team leaderboard at plus-31 607.
CSUN (288-288-576; E) and Grand Canyon (294-282-576; E) finished tied atop the leaderboard, however CSUN won the event on a tiebreak, while Sacramento State (290-289-579; +3) placed third.
Junior
Triston Gardner (75-73) was the top Trailblazer finisher as he tied for 24
th at plus-4 148. Gardner also tied for 14
th-overall in the field in birdies with seven, four of which came as part of a final round 1-over 73 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, sophomore Josh Perhson (74-75) wound up in a group of eight players tied for 29
th at plus-5 149, followed by sophomore
Aman Uddin (75-79) in t-56
th at plus-10 154, senior
Spencer Wallace (78-79) in t-66
that plus-13 157, and senior
Brock Nielson (83-78) in t-77
th at plus-17 161.
Dixie State will enjoy a week off before wrapping up its 2022 spring regular season at the PING BYU Cougar Classic, which will be played on April 22-23, at Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah.
