Trailblazers post solid marks at UVU Collegiate Invitational

Dixie State women's track and field competed at the Utah Valley Collegiate Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Hal Wing Track in Orem, Utah.

The Trailblazers, who competed in 11 total events (seven running, four field) at the meet, posted solid marks over the two days of competition to finish in third place in the team standings. Overall, DSU saw one school record broken while 11 other Dixie State participants tallied marks in nine different events which landed inside the top-10 of the Trailblazer record book.

Madison Flippence turned in two top-5 finishes at the event. Flippence finished in second place with a time of 17:44.84 in the 5000m to earn the No. 5 DSU All-Time mark, while crossing the line in fifth place with a time of 10:19.49 and No. 3 in the Blazer record book in the 3000m.

Dixie State saw three other runners tally DSU top-10 marks in the 3000m, as Kirstin Williams landed at No. 5 (10:46.17), Shakayla Morgan at No. 8 (11:06.03), and Brooklyn Smith at No. 9 (11:11.3).

Addi Wyatt crossed the line with a time of 2:20.99 in the 800m, a mark that missed a DSU record by just half a second. Wyatt would also land at No. 4 in the DSU record book in the 1500m with a time of 5:06.13.

Two other Trailblazers posted DSU top-10 times in the 1500m, including Grace McLaughlin at No. 2 with a time of 5:00.90 and Amy White at No. 9 with a mark of 5:13.80.

Three other Trailblazers posted DSU top-10 marks in running events, including Emma Terry at No. 7 (26.07) in the 200m, Sadie Edwards at No. 7 (1:01.41) in the 400m, and Rashawnna Gibson at No. 10 (12.79) in the 100m.

On the field side, Paige Davis claimed the lone DSU record of the meet, besting her own previous record with a mark of 34-11.00 (10.64m) in the triple jump, while Emilee Nelson landed at No. 6 in the DSU record book with a toss of 117-07 (35.84m) in the javelin.

Dixie State will return to northern Utah next week for the Weber State Spring Classic on Friday and the Utah Spring Classic on Saturday.
