Trailblazers set two program records at Ben Brown Invitational

DSU tallies 13 additional top-10 program marks

Dixie State women's track and field opened its 2022 Outdoor Season on Friday and Saturday, competing in the CSU Fullerton-hosted Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton, California.
 
The Trailblazers posted solid marks at the two-day event, setting two program records to go with 13 additional DSU Top-10 performances.
 
Madison Flippence tallied the first school record on Friday with a DSU-best time of 17:30.56 in the 5000m. Two other Trailblazers landed in the Dixie State Top-10 in the event as Kirstin Williams posted a time of 18:10.57 to land at No. 6, and Shakayla Morgan tallied the eighth-fastest time in DSU history at 18:35.37.
 
Amy White tallied Dixie State's top finish of the weekend, crossing the line in fourth place with a time of 12:00.00 in the 3000m steeplechase to move to No. 2 in the DSU record book. Gabby Royle also broke into the DSU Top-10 at No. 10 with a time of 12:41.79.
 
Addi Wyatt made her mark in the 800m, finishing in ninth place with a time of 2:22.03, the second-fastest time in Trailblazer program history.
 
Morgan Callens kicked off the second day of the meet in record-fashion on Saturday, tying her own DSU-best mark of 1.60m in the high jump.
 
Dixie State's two relay teams enjoyed success at the meet, as Emma Terry, Erica Holt, Abigail Yadon, and Rashawnna Gibson raced to No. 3 in the DSU record book with a mark of 48.61 in the 4x100. Holt and Terry also teamed up with Sadie Edwards and Emma Lloyd to post a time of 4:08.01 in the 4x400, the second-fastest time in program history.
 
Two Trailblazers notched spots in the DSU Top-10 in the 400m, including Wyatt at No. 6 with a time of 1:01.12 and Edwards at No. 10 with mark of 1:02.22.
 
Gibson and Terry each enjoyed individual success in the 100m dash, as Gibson crossed the line with a time of 12.61 to snag the fifth-best DSU time in the event, while Terry landed at No. 8 in DSU history with a time of 12.77.
 
Holt ran to No. 6 in the Trailblazer record book with a time of 26.04 in the 200m, while Paige Davis became the first Dixie State track and field athlete to compete in the triple jump, posting a mark of 10.10m.
 
After a two-week break from competition, Dixie State will travel to Orem, Utah, for the Utah Valley Collegiate Invitational, beginning on April 1.
