Trailblazers conclude competition at BYU Indoor Invitational

Dixie State women's track and field wrapped up its time at its first-ever indoor meet, the BYU Cougar Collegiate Indoor Invitational, on Saturday at the George Albert Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah.

The Trailblazers competed in seven different events at the BYU Indoor Invitational, including two field events on Friday and five running events on Saturday.

FRIDAY – DAY ONE

DSU opened its slate of events with two field events on Friday, highlighted by a sixth-place finish and a mark of 4.99m/16-04.50 by Rashawnna Gibson in the long jump.

SATURDAY – DAY TWO

The Trailblazers closed out the multi-day completion with five running events on Saturday, posting eight top-10 results throughout the course of the day.

Ashlynn Gilhula tallied the highest DSU finish of the meet, crossing the line in fourth place with a time of 7.88 in the 60m, while Sadi Edwards (1:04.11) and Camilla Hamilton (1:07.06) finished in fifth and sixth place in the 400m.

Rylee Jacobsen notched a fifth-place finish in the 3000m with a time of 10:43.58, while Kirstin Williams (11:15.44) finished in seventh place, followed by Brooklyn Smith (11:43.02) in eighth place and Nicolette Coffman (12:34.37) in 10th place.

Erica Holt finished in the top half of the 200m, posting a time of 26.96 to cross the line in ninth place, followed by Gibson (27.62) in 12th place and Emma Lloyd (28.24) in 14th place.

Four DSU runners competed in the one-mile race, led by Gabby Royle (5:53.72) in 15th place, followed by Jaylee Sorenson (6:11.18) in 17th, and Heather Lacey (7:20.84) in 18th.

The Trailblazers will travel to Flagstaff, Arizona, next week for the Northern Arizona Lumberjack Team Challenge.
