Dixie State University Director of Athletics
Dr. Jason Boothe announced on Tuesday the promotion of assistant coach
Camilla Hafoka to the position of head coach of the Trailblazer women's volleyball program. Hafoka takes over the program from Robyn Felder, who stepped down as head coach this past April 14.
"We are very excited to have Camilla step into the head coach role and lead the program," Dr. Boothe said. "She is a wonderful fit for the team and will be an excellent leader for the athletes and within the athletic department. I look forward to working with her to continue the momentum and success we've established with this team into the future."
Hafoka has spent the last two seasons on the Trailblazer sidelines, where she helped lead the team to a 29-16 overall record over that span. In her first season as an assistant coach, Dixie State played to a 20-8 overall record in the program's final year of NCAA Division II competition.
This past spring, Hafoka helped guide DSU to a 9-8 overall mark in its debut NCAA Division I season, which included an 8-8 mark (t-4
th) in its first season in the Western Athletic Conference.
"I am incredibly humbled and honored to be named the head coach at Dixie State University, it is truly a privilege," Coach Hafoka said. "I'm especially grateful to Jason Boothe and [DSU Assc. AD] Mike Olson for this opportunity to be a part of the growth that is happening here at DSU.
"I'm grateful to my husband, parents, family and mentors for supporting me," Hafoka added. "I can't wait to get started. I am excited that we have a number of our girls returning in the fall and that they have one year of experience playing in Division I under them. Go Trailblazers!"
Hafoka played collegiately at Oregon State, where she played for former Olympic Volleyball Coach Tery Likevych. She was a four-year starting setter for the Beavers and was an academic all PAC-10 pick, while she closed her four-year career fifth in OSU history in assists (3,085) and 24

Following her graduation from OSU, she returned to her native Hawai'i to serve as a volunteer assistant coach at BYU-Hawaii under legendary coach Wilfred Navalta. While there, she helped lead BYU-H to a 2010 Pacific West Conference championship and an NCAA Regionals appearance.
The following year Hafoka was named head volleyball coach at her alma mater, Kahuku High School, where she won a conference and OIA crown, and placed third at the state tournament. She was named coach of the year for OIA, and mentored future University of Utah standout Adora Anae and University of Arizona All-American setter Penina Snuka. In 2012, Hafoka returned to BYU-H as an assistant coach and helped guide the
Seasiders to another PacWest title, along with an NCAA West Regional championship and an NCAA Division II national runner-up finish. While at BYU-H, she coached D-II All-Americans Stella Chen (setter) and Michelle Chen (outside hitter).
Hafoka spent four seasons on the Seasider sideline before returning to the mainland with her husband, first relocating to Pullman, Wash., where she provided instruction at numerous Washington State volleyball camps.
