(Boise, Idaho - Sept. 13, 2025) - The Trailblazers wrapped up the Boise State Invitational on Saturday morning sweeping San Francisco in Bronco Gym.
Utah Tech (7-2) earned their sixth sweep of the season and took set wins over San Francisco (2-5), 25-22, 25-19, 25-19.
Led for the seventh time this season in kills by
Kennedi Knudsen, the two-time reigning WAC Player of the Week finished with 18 kills and added four digs.
Marley Roe tallied a team-best 21 assists to move past the 1,000 career assist mark while
Mya Laufiso led the team with 13 digs.
How It Happened
Battling tough throughout the first set, the Trailblazers got out to a 16-10 lead after a kill by Knudsen.
An 11-3 run for the Dons put USF ahead 21-19, but Utah Tech responded with four straight points to go ahead by a pair.
A kill by Knudsen finished out the set as the Trailblazers were powered by a pair of successful challenges in the set.
UT got off to a quick 11-5 lead to start the second set and continued by six (21-15) thanks to a kill by a
Casidy Fried.
Three straight points for the Dons cut UT's lead in half, but four of the final five points of the set went to the Trailblazers to go ahead by a pair of sets.
Looking to put away the Dons in the third set, the Trailblazers raced out to an 11-3 lead and led throughout the set with their final three points of the match all coming off kills by Knudsen.
Numbers To Know
- Utah Tech led San Francisco in kills (45-35), hitting percentage (.320-.200), blocks (9-2), assists (43-31) and digs (37-35).
- Knudsen and Snow were named to the Boise State Invitational All-Tournament Team.
- Knudsen moved past Megan Treanor (833, 2018-21) for second on the program's all-time career kills list and now has tallied 847 career kills sitting only four kills shy of the program record.
- Roe surpassed the 1,000 career assist mark on Saturday and now has dished out 1,006 career assists to rank eighth in program history.
- The Trailblazers have matched the 2018 team with the program's best nine-match start to a season at 7-2. That team started the season 11-2 on its way to a 22-6 overall record.
