(Boise, Idaho - Sept. 11, 2025) - The Trailblazers saw their four-match winning streak come to an end on Thursday night falling in straight sets to Boise State to open the Boise State Invitational.
Utah Tech (5-2), who were swept for the first time this season, dropped sets, 22-25, 19-25, 20-25 to Boise State (5-2).
Without a double-digit kill performer for the first time in 2025, the Trailblazers were led by six kills apiece from
Kennedi Knudsen and
Taylor Snow.
Marley Roe led the way with 15 assists and tallied a double-double adding 11 digs, tied for the team lead along with
Mya Laufiso.
Idaho native
Casidy Fried led the team defensively with six block assists and added a pair of kills.
The Broncos topped the Trailblazers in kills (35-31), blocks (12-10), digs (53-50) and hitting percentage (.171-.042).
How It Happened
The opening set saw the Broncos race out to a 12-5 lead and continue to lead by seven at 17-10 forcing a Trailblazer timeout.
Coming out of the break, Boise State scored three of the next four points for a nine-point advantage (20-11), but the Trailblazers refused to go away easy reeling off a 9-3 run to get within three at 23-20 after a kill by Roe.
A solo block by Snow brought UT within a pair at 24-22, but a kill by the Broncos' Kailyn Jager put BSU up one set to none.
The Trailblazers continued to fight tough in the second set, but like the opening set, the Broncos jumped ahead early leading, 12-8.
With Boise State ahead 15-12 at the media timeout, three straight points for UT tied the set at 15.
A kill by Asiata tied the set at 17, but that was the final tie of the set for the Trailblazers as Boise closed out the second set with an 8-2 run.
The third set saw the Broncos race out to a 15-9 lead and extend it to as many as nine (21-12) before the Trailblazers ripped off five straight points, capped by a kill by Snow, to pull within four.
One final kill by Snow got the Trailblazers within three, 24-21, but the Broncos completed the sweep with a kill.
