OPENING TIP: After opting out of the 2020-21 season, the Dixie State Women's Basketball Team will tip-off for the first time in nearly a year hosting Life Pacific Nov. 9. Tuesday's game (0-0/0-0 WAC) begins the second year of its NCAA Division I era this Tuesday night as the Trailblazers host Life Pacific. Tip-off inside the Burns Arena is slated for 7 p.m.
DIXIE STATE VS. LIFE PACIFIC: Tuesday night's game will be the second meeting between the Trailblazers and Warriors on the basketball court.
  The last time the two teams met up was early during the 2019-20 season. Dixie State came away with an 82-30 win.
TRAILBLAZERS PICKED 12TH IN THE WAC: Dixie State was voted to finish 12th by both the coaches and the media as the Western Athletic Conference announced its 2021-22 conference women's basketball preseason polls on Oct. 18. California Baptist and Stephen F. Austin were atop of the polls with both teams receiving six first place votes in the coaches poll.
QUICK LOOK AT THE 2021-22 SCHEDULE: The Trailblazers are scheduled to face No. 10 Oregon Sunday, Nov 14. DSU also has games against Utah State, Colorado and Portland State.
DSU has 16 home games on its docket, highlighted by visits from Kansas City, Air Force and in-state foe, Southern Utah.  Â
Dixie State will ring in the new year by starting its 18-game Western Athletic Conference schedule, with road games against Tarleton State on Thursday, Dec. 30, and WAC newcomer and Abilene Christian on Saturday, Jan. 1.
MEET THE 2021-22 TRAILBLAZERS: Dixie State begins its second D-I season with three returning starters from 2020-21.
  The Trailblazers have two seniors on this year's squad in
Shanaijah Davison and
Hannah Robins, both are transfers with Davison coming from Long Beach State and Robins coming from rival Southern Utah.
  There are five juniors on the team this year.
Maggie McCord,
Emily Isaacson and
Breaunna Gillen are all returning for their third year as Trailblazers.
Talia Sireni and
Taylia Stimpson are new to Dixie this year. Stimpson is a transfer from Georgetown while Sireni comes to DSU from San Diego State.
  Just two sophomores are on the squad, both returning, in
Brooke Vance and
Vegas Camacho.
  Three freshmen will vie for playing time this year, including Maddie and
Macie Warren as well as
Averi Papa.
HOME SWEET HOME: Since joining the NCAA ranks in 2006-07, Dixie State has played to a 113-58 (.660) overall record in the Burns Arena. Under Head Coach
JD Gustin, DSU is 34-25 (.576) at home which includes a 1-1 record last season.

ON THE DUSTY TRAIL: Dixie State has a 73-99Â (.424) record on the road since joining the NCAA in 2006-07. Under Head Coach
JD Gustin, the Blazers are 15-32 (.319) on the road. Last season, DSU finished the season with a 0-1 overall road mark.

THE OPT OUT: Just after the New Year hit, and recording just a 1-2 record, Dixie State opted out of its first year of D-I play. The decision to opt out was made with the overall health and wellness of the student-athletes and program in mind.
ABOUT LIFE PACIFIC:Â The Warriors have an 0-3 record on the season so far. They are coming off a 62-59 loss to Occidental College. Life Pacific is led by Rachel Spinosa who averages 17.3 points per game.
UP NEXT: Dixie State begins will hit the road to take on Portland State Friday, Nov. 12 before heading to the University of Oregon to take on the No. 10 ranked Ducks on Sunday, Nov. 14.
