Dixie State extended its RMAC winning streak to three-straight on the strength of a 3-1 result at UCCS Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium.
The Trailblazers (4-3-1/3-1-0 RMAC) set the tone early as the offense struck for two quick goals over the first 11-plus minutes of play.
John Joseph got Dixie State on the board just three minutes into the match when tucked home a ball played in
Moises Medina. The duo would strike again eight minutes later, this time it was Joseph and
Logan Beus who combined to find Medina for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
UCCS (1-5-1/0-4-0 RMAC) cut the Blazer lead in half on an Alex Vonholle shot midway through the 49
th-minute, but Dixie State got that goal back with 2:30 remaining in regulation play when
Guglielmo Bianchi finished a
Daniel Brubaker feed to extend the DSU lead back to a two-goal advantage.
The Mountain Lions made one last push in the closing moments as Vonholle and Liam McGuire both had looks at the net, but Blazer goalkeeper
Zach Nielson answered the challenge with two of his four saves on the day in that flurry to preserve the DSU lead.
The Blazers outshot UCCS 17-15, including an 8-5 edge on goal, with Joseph and Medina leading the way with four shots apiece.
Dixie State continues its four-match RMAC road trip next weekend with matches at Colorado Mesa on Friday, Oct. 4, and at Fort Lewis on Sunday, Oct. 6.
