GAME INFO: The Red Storm travel to Los Angeles, Calif. for a non-conference battle with California State Univeristy Los Angeles. The two squads are scheduled to tip off at 2:00 p.m. mountain time. Live stats will be offered by CSULA athletics and the links are available on DixieAthletics.com

ALL-TIME vs. CSULA: The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 2-0. In their last meeting, the CSULA defeated the Red Storm 73-69 on Nov. 26, 2011 in the Burns Arena. The previous meeting took place in the Eagles Nest on Dec. 22, 2009, when CSULA defeated won 60-50.

LAST TIME OUT: The Red Storm we outscored 61-28 in the first half, allowing nine three pointers and never could overcome CSU Monterey Bay as they dropped the non-conference matchup 98-70. Despite a 2nd half surge, the Red Storm shot only 31.6 percent from the field, while taking 46 free throws, making 32. DSU outrebounded the Otters 47-37 in the loss. Newcomer Haley Holmstead (American Fork, UT/American Fork) led the Storm with 25 points and nine rebounds.

LAST TIME AGAINST CSULA: DSU had their string of 22 consecutive home wins snapped in 73-69. They trailed by 14 points at the half and took a 69-68 lead with 38 seconds left, but the Golden Eagles converted a pair of free throws to secure the victory. Sheila Adams led the squad with 24 points and connecting on five three pointers.

TURNER ON TEAM EFFORT: "We definitely need to work on taking care of the ball, valuing the possession, and making sure we do the little things as we try to speed up the game. Showing up at the beginning of everything that we do, whether that is the three men weave, scrimmages or a game. We cant wait for the first five minutes to pass and then decide that its time to play. We have to do the little things to be successful. Sometimes we just go through the motions and then we try and turn it on."

GUARD CHANGES: Senior point guard Jordan Giles (Rock Springs, WY/Rock Springs) as decided to leave the team for personal reasons this week. She played in 29 games, starting 23 while averaging 4.6 ppg in career as a member of the Red Storm. Coach Turner said, "We wish her the best of luck!"

SCOUTING CSULA: They are a smaller squad who opened their season with a 70-67 overtime win over CCAA rival CSU Dominguez Hills last Saturday. They are led in scoring by Aiwekhoe Okungbowa, who scored 14 points and in rebounding by Alisha Belt with 13.0. They like to crash the basket and use their athleticism to take advantage of the bigger teams. They outrebounded the Toros 58-52 in their opener. Coach Jones is in her 5th season as CSULA and the team is familiar with her system. Both teams have a negative turnover margin, look for someone to try and capitalize on the turnovers. CSULA shoots 39.7 percent from the floor and 27.3 percent from the field.

RED STORM NOTES: The Red Storm are led in scoring by newcomer Haley Holmstead (American Fork, UT/American Fork), she had 25 in the opener against CSUMB. Both Holmestead and newcomer Taylor Maynes (Salome, AZ/Salome) each had 12 rebounds. Retuner Kaylah Miller (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day) added 14 points and five assists. DSU shoots just 31.6 percent from the field and managed to connect on two of 12 in the opener from behind the arc. The up tempo offense will continue for the Red Strom, but have been working the past few weeks on the execution of the half-court offense. Coach Turner said, "We can run with anyone, but need to be able to execute when forced to slow our game down." With the departure of Giles, look for Miranda Moore (Coolidge, AZ/Coolidge) and Austen Harris (Acworth, GA/Desert Vista) to pick up minutes at the point, as well as Miller who played most of the second half of the opener as the point guard. DSU will try and take advantage of the height of their big's by getting the ball to Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, UT/Emery) and Jessica Anderson (Page, AZ/Page).
