Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 pm Moutnain, with live audio coverage on Dixie State All Access (DixieAtheltics.com/showcase) and 91.3 FM KXDS. "Voice of the Red Storm," John Potter has the play-by-play from Van Dyne Gymnasium.

ALL-TIME vs. CBU: In their first year in the PacWest, California Baptist won both of their meetings with Dixie State last season. On Feb. 18, the Lancers defeated DSC 71-67 at Van Dyne Gymnasium. The Red Storm are 1-4 overall, with their only victory coming in 2006 at the Burns Arena. CBU has won the last three matchups.

Kaylah Miller
LAST TIME OUT:  In their final match-up of 2012, the Dixie State women's basketball team dropped a 76-66 non-conference game to Seattle Pacific on Monday afternoon in Seattle at the Broughman Pavillion.

Despite scoring 17 points for the third time this season, sophomore point guard Kaylah Miller (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day)'s effort wasn't enough to overcome the stingy defense of the Falcons.

The Storm took their final lead with 6:05 left in the first half when sophomore forward Rachael Spinks (St. George, UT/Pine View) nailed a mid range jumper to give DSC a 22-21 lead. SPU followed with a 16-1 run to take a 37-23 lead with just under three minutes left in the first half.

Dixie State ran off the final nine points of the half to get within 37-32 by halftime. The Red Storm came as close as three at 41-38 with 16:52 left in the game.

But SPU put the next seven points on the board, with a lay-in by Katie Benson, a mid-range jumper by Suzhanna Ohlsen, and a 3-pointer by Ohlsen. pushing it back to a 10-point margin at 48-38. The Storm never came closer than seven after that, and it was a double-digit Falcons advantage for the final 11 ½ minutes of the game, with the lead ballooning to 16 points twice.

A strong point for most of the season was the rebounding advantage they imposed on their opponents. It was a difference maker in today's contest as they were out rebounded 47-40 by SPU.

Dixie State shot near 45 percent in the first half and were held to just 28 percent in the second to finish the game at 35.9 percent. Stingy defense forced the Red Storm to many miscues, including the Falcons holding leading scorer and rebounder Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) to just eight point and eight rebounds.

Miller finished 4 of 16 from the field, Mandy Munns (Brigham City, UT/Box Elder) who was held to just eight points, connected on just 3 of 11 from the floor.

A bright spot for the Red Storm was the play off the bench of senior guard Erica Hayes (East Palo Alto, CA/Menlo-Atherton) who sparked the run in the first half with nine points. She finished with 13 points in 20 minutes of play.

SCOUTING the RED STORM:  Dixie State is 6-6 overall and 4-0 in the PacWest. The Red Storm are in the midst of their second three-game losing streak this season are looking to make a splash in the PWC standings with a win over Cal Baptist. The Red Storm are led in scoring (11.9) and rebounding (11.0) by Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ). But, Kaylah Miller (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day) and Mandy Munns (Brigham City, UT/Box Elder) have made the most noise for Coach Kristensen's squad the past four games. Miller has led the team in scoring five times this season and Munns has three times with two of those coming in the last four games. The Red Storm average 74 points per game and are shooting 41 percent from the field.  Rebounding has been a strong point with a +4.5 rebounding average over their opponents. Turnovers continue to plague the DSC offense, averaging 18.7, a minus 2.6 margin.

Mandy Munns
KRISTENSEN KORNER:Obviously we are getting into the heart of our schedule.  We are hoping our tough non conference schedule has helped is prepare for the next few games.  We know going into this that this is going to be a big game. We need to control the boards and keep Beverly off the offensive boards and we need to shut down Lewis because she really hurt us last year. We want to control the tempo and paint and if we do those two things we put ourselves in a position to win this game."

MUNNS HONORED : Munns averaged 17.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game despite a 0-2 week for the Red Storm…tied for seventh in scoring and ranked 17th in rebounding in the PacWest for the week…tied for 10th in shooting for the week…made 13 of 24 (54.2%) field goal attempts…tied for 12th in free throw shooting (80.0%) after making 8 for 10 attempts from the line.

SCOUTING CAL BAPTIST: With four players in double figures, CBU has many weapons to attack you. Their leading scores Simone Holmes averages 12.3 ppg and is coming off a 21 point performance on their 55-53 win over Grand Canyon on Wednesday night. Guard Myriah Hicks (11.3) and Britney Lewis (11.0) add to the balanced attack of post player Jasmine Beverly (10.5) who also leads the team in rebounding with 9.2 per game.  CBU scores 70.8 points per game and shoots 38.9 percent from the field. They are an athletic team that likes to force teams into committing turnovers. They have a plus 6.3 turnover margin.

KRISTENSEN on CAL BAPTIST: “
No doubt about it they have a ton of seniors and will be ready to go!   They have a fantastic point guard in Hicks and we must do a good job of containing her !   This is a very athletic team with lots of weapons.
