SERIES RECORD: This will mark the first meeting between the two schools. 2012 is the first season that FPU has been a member of the PacWest Conference.

LAST TIME OUT:
Kaylah Miller (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day) scored a game-high 18 points and Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) earned her 15th career double double as Dixie State ran away from Chaminade 86-56 tonight at the Burns Arena. Brown finished the game with 11 points and 15 rebounds. It was her second consecutive game with a double double and her fourth of the season in just seven games. The Red Storm shot 54.3 percent from the field and outscored the Silverswords 56-12 in the paint to lead them to victory.Chaminade took an early 6-2 lead, only to see Dixie State go on an 18-2 run and push their lead to 10 points with 11:48 left in the first half.
Miller scored 11 of her 18 points in the first half to lead DSC to a 51-27 halftime lead. Becca Thomas (Riverside, CA/Redwood) played solid inside going 5-7 from the floor and scoring a season high 11 points. She also grabbed four rebounds as DSC outrebounded the Silverswords 51-28.

AROUND THE PACWEST:  Seven team remain unbeaten through the first weekend of PacWest play. Both Grand Canyon and DSC sit at 2-0 and CBU, AAU, HPU, PLNU and HNU have one win.

KRISTENSEN KORNER: “We made big strides over the last few weeks,  I have been very excited about the growth of our team.  We don't care who we are playing and have been taking the same approach every game.   I think our focus has been very good on the road this year .  We have some momentum going into these games.  This time of the year is always hard because it is finals week , which means extra stress on the girls.   Hopefully we can play through that and carry over our success.  We are looking for some momentum heading into the Vegas tournament."

SCOUTING the RED STORM: It was a real team effort the last few games and has lead to a little three-game winning streak. Three players aveage in double figures with Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) leading the way at 13.3 ppg and 11.6 rpg. Sophomore Kaylah Miller (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day) chips in 12.7 ppg and senior center Mandy Munns (Brigham City, UT/Box Elder) at 10.0. DSC continues to average 75.4 points a game and shoots 42.8 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from three-point range. The Red Storm out rebound their opponents 45.4 to 38.3 . Turnovers have been the issue for DSC. They cough up the ball 20.1 times per game.

SCOUTING FRESNO PACIFIC: The Thunderbirds are led by Keairra white who averages 22.1 point per game. She scored 40 points against Northwest Nazarene and the last time out at Cal Baptist she score 32 points. They shoot 31.8 percent from the floor and 30.1 percent from three point range. The Thunderbirds average 21.4 turnovers per game, similar to the Red Storm it could be a recipe for a sloppy game. Keri Stephanoff is the leading rebounder at 8.7 per game. FPU scores 60.6 points a game and has lost eight in a row dating back to their conference tournament exit against Azusa Pacific.

KRISTENSEN on FRESNO PACIFIC: "This is the first time I have ever played Fresno Pacific -  I have known their coach for while because she used to be an assistant at Utah State.  They have an amazing player in Keairra White who as put up some big numbers this year.  We need to find a way to shut her down in order to win this game.    I always hate playing a team that is looking for their first win, because they are going to beat someone eventually."
