SERIES RECORD: This will mark the 13th time the two schools have played, with DSC leading at 12-0. The Red Storm defeated the Chaminade 78-51 inside the Burns Arena. The Red Storm have never lost to the Silverswords and remain a perfect 5-0 at home.

LAST TIME OUT: Four Dixie State players' scored in double figures as the Dixie State women's basketball team defeated Hawaii Hilo 85-75 on Saturday night in their Pacific West Conference opener at the Burns Arena.  Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) grabbed 10 rebounds and added a team-high 16 points en-route to her 14th career double double. Mandy Munns (Brigham City, UT/Box Elder) scored 11 of her 15 points in the second half to help stave off the Vulcans comeback. The Red Storm separated themselves in the first half when Jordan Giles (Rock Springs, WY/Rock Springs) scored ten consecutive points in a forty-second span. She connected on back to back three-pointers, two jumpers and two free throws. Her play with 3:27 left in the half, helped build a DSC 34-24 lead. Giles finished with a career high 12 points for the game. The DSC bench out scored the Vulcans 42-23 in the game. But the real difference was the 25 of 33 from the charity stripe for Dixie State and UHH was 10 for 15. “We will continue to grow but don't have a lot of time to think about this game with another game on Monday and our focus is taking it one game at a time,” concluded Kristensen.

AROUND THE PACWEST:  Of the fourteen schools in the PacWest, only two did not play on Saturday night. Grand Canyon and Chaminade both had a bye. AAU, CBU, HPU, PLNU, DSC, and HNU all ended the night as victors.

KRISTENSEN KORNER: “Obviously the real season starts this weekend.  With the conference season brings a new excitement.  We have had a tough stretch of games including our exhibition games.”

SCOUTING the RED STORM: Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) continues to bulldoze through opponents and leads the Red Storm in both scoring (13.7 ppg) and rebounding (11.0 rpg). DSC averages 73.7 points a game and shoots 40.7 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from three-point range. The Red Storm out rebound their opponents 44.5 to 40.0 . Turnovers have been the issue for DSC. They cough up the ball 20.2 times per game.

SCOUTING CHAMINADE: In three games this season, the Silverswords remain win less having lost by an average of 81.3  to 54.7. They are a transient team that struggles, shooting just 27.9 percent from the field. They play and work extremely hard and are can catch you on your heels at any moment. CUH has lost 10 straight games dating back to last season. They last won on 2/8/12 over BYU-Hawaii. They are led in scoring by Rhani Kanealakala at 10.7 ppg and Nikki Tauau leads at 6.0 rpg.

KRISTENSEN on CHAMINADE: “Chaminade always gives everyone their best effort.  I am not looking at anyone's records as  It takes one game for anyone to turn a season around.  We are just going to continue to get better and take this season one game at a time .  We want to set the tone this weekend as to what our goal is.  And that's a championship!!”
