-Sophomore forward Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) scored 15 points and grabbed a school-record 20 rebounds to lead the #12 Dixie State College women's basketball team to a 63-39 victory over the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Brown earned her eight double-double of the season and Breann Hill (Harrisburg, PA/McDevitt) scored 20 points in the victory.

With the score tied at 4, the Red Storm erupted on a 16-0 run to take a 20-4 lead with 10:48 remaining.

The Vulcans (9-11, 5-7 PWC) would follow with a 12-0 run of their own to get within four points with 5:58 remaining. But DSC would not go away, taking a 34-22 lead into the half.

Despite shooting only 35.4 percent from the floor, the Red Storm (19-2, 9-1 PWC) led wire to wire in the contest.

Dixie State would outrebound Hawaii-Hilo 57-33, with 19 of those coming on the offensive of the ball.

Hawaii Hilo could not manage to put the ball in the hole and shot only 28.6 percent from the field and was one of eight from behind the arc.

Hawaii Hilo was led by the play of Hillary Hurley who had a game high 21 points and six rebounds. She saw limited action, 22 minutes, because of early foul trouble.

The Red Storm again capitalized on the inside prowess of Erica Carlson (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro HS). The nations leading blocker, swatted away six Hilo shots tonight and really made it difficult for them to get comfortable inside. She also added 12 rebounds and three points. Rachel Gines (South Jordan, UT/Bingham ) added two blocks of her own.

Dixie State will be at home again on Saturday night against Hawaii Pacific at 5:30 PM. HPU lost to Grand Canyon tonight 70-60 in Phoenix, AZ. It will also be a night where the five Red Storm seniors are honored before the contest.
