A GLANCE AT IDAHO STATE
The Bengals challenge the Trailblazers on Valentine's Day after a 3-3 start to their season. ISU has posted two wins over Colorado Mesa and one over Lewis-Clark State College (Idaho) so far this season. Idaho State has fallen to common opponents Utah (0-4) and BYU (1-6), recording the same final scores that Utah Tech did against those foes. In 2024, the Bengals won a share of the Big Sky's regular season title before getting bounced by Weber State (0-4) in the first round of the conference's tournament.

Last season, ISU dispatched the Trailblazers 5-2 on March 8 in St. George. The Bengals hold a 5-0 advantage all-time over UT, including a 2-0 mark in neutral-site games.

Idaho State returns three Bengals from its conference championship team, including junior Stefanya Shalakhova who was all-Big Sky doubles second team and singles honorable mention in 2024. ISU also added four newcomers who have combined for a 7-6 record in singles this season.

A GLANCE AT UNLV
The Rebels will host Utah Tech on Saturday, Feb. 15, after taking on Kansas City on Friday. With an unblemished 3-0 record entering the weekend, UNLV has picked up wins over Weber State (6-1), Oral Roberts (7-0) and Youngstown State (5-2) this season. After tying for third in the Mountain West during the 2024 regular season, the Rebels fought all the way to the final of the Mountain West Championship before falling to No. 62 San Diego State 4-2.

Last season, UNLV swept the Trailblazers 7-0 in Las Vegas. The Rebels hold a 4-0 lead all-time over Utah Tech with all four matches taking place in Sin City.

The Rebels have not lost a matchup in the number two, three, four or five singles spots this season. Last week, the Rebels swept the MW's weekly awards. Senior Coco Zhao was named MW Player of the Week after a 6-0 week where she did not lose a set, while the MW Freshman of the Week was Kaho Oyama who went 4-0 in her first-ever dual match.

A GLANCE AT KANSAS CITY
The Roos will close out their weekend in Vegas by taking on Utah Tech on Sunday, Feb. 16. Kansas City is 2-3 overall and enters the weekend on a two-match win streak with victories over Missouri State (5-2) and Central Arkansas (4-2) last weekend. In 2024, the Roos went 5-14, finishing sixth in the Summit League with a 1-5 conference record and missing out on the conference tournament.

KC and UT have met just once before with the Roos defeating the Trailblazers 4-0 in Las Vegas in 2023.

Kansas City swept the Summit League's weekly honors this week as junior Catherine Chrobak was named singles player of the week for the second time in her career. Senior Joana Miralles Cardona and freshman Sophie Marshman were selected as the doubles performers of the week.

LAST TIME OUT
Utah Tech was tripped up at Utah State 6-1 on Saturday, Jan. 25 inside the Sports Academy & Racquet Club in Logan, Utah. Sophomore Mariana Zurita picked up her first singles win of the season in a neck-and-neck thriller with USU's Ana Sabikova in the number two singles spot. Zurita pulled out both sets 7-5, closing each set with an extra game. Fellow sophomore Olivia Bustos made for a tough challenge in the number four singles spot. Utah State's Olivia Halvorsen came out with a close win 7-6, 6-4. In the second doubles match, Bustos and sophomore Ana Gutierrez Sampere were tied 5-5 with Aggie pair Indya Nespor and Cielo Tapia-Cruz when the match went unfinished. Senior Laura Coulome and freshman Nutsa Tsintsadze came up short in a competitive match with USU's Natalie Paterova and Sabikova with a final score of 7-5 in the third doubles match.

MEET THE TRAILBLAZERS
The 2024-25 roster consists of eight student-athletes with one senior, two juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen. Five Trailblazers are international students and three hail from the United States. Coulome (Eastern Arizona) and Nicole Kells (Alcorn State) both started their collegiate careers at other schools.

Head coach Eric Pelton is in his 19th season at the helm of Utah Tech women's tennis. Pelton has totaled 104 wins at UT and winning seasons in 2014 (12-9), 2017 (9-8), 2019 (13-4) and 2020 (6-3).
