(Riverside, Calif. - Nov. 8, 2025) - The Trailblazers scored the final six points of the deciding fifth set on Saturday afternoon to defeat California Baptist in five sets at Van Dyne Gymnasium.
Utah Tech (17-5, 8-2 WAC) took the first set over California Baptist (7-16, 3-8 WAC), 25-21 before the Lancers won set two and three, 25-23, 25-21, respectively.
With the Trailblazers evening the match at two sets apiece with a 25-21 win in the fourth set, UT fell behind 12-9 in the fifth set before reeling off six straight points to complete the comeback win.
The Trailblazers were led by a career-high 16 kills from senior middle blocker
Taylor Snow who added five digs, four block assists and a service ace.
Junior outside hitter
Tessa Treanor nearly tallied a double-double tying for the team lead with 14 digs and added nine kills &Â five service aces (tied for sixth-most in a single match).
Senior middle blocker
Casidy Fried registered a career-best 11 blocks, including three solo, while setter
Marley Roe led the way with 22 assists.
How It Happened
A back-and-forth opening set saw the Trailblazers lead 8-4 with the Lancers answering back with a 5-0 run to jump ahead 9-8.
With UT continuing to lead 17-16 in the opening set, UT closed out the set on an 8-5Â run, including reeling off six straight points, with the set finished off by a kill from Snow.
After the Lancers won the second and third sets, the Lancers looked they were poised to take the match in four sets leading the fourth set, 21-19 after a kill by Lucille Ryan.
The Trailblazers had other plans with Snow getting a 6-0 run to close out the set started with a kill and was followed by a pair of kills from
Nana Asiata and finished off with blocks by Fried and Asiata.
A kill by
Emery Harrison, who finished with a career-high 11 in the match, pushed UT ahead 8-7 midway through the fifth set, but a 5-1 run for CBU put the Lancers ahead, 12-9 after a block.
Back-to-back kills by Treanor and Asiata brought the Trailblazers within one and a service ace by Roe tied the set at 12.
An attack error by the Lancers was followed with back-to-back kills by Snow to finish off the comeback win.
