(St. George, Utah - Nov. 13, 2025) - The Trailblazers stayed perfect at home on the season on Thursday night sweeping Tarleton State at Burns Arena.
Utah Tech (18-5, 9-2 WAC), who is tied atop the WAC regular season standings with Utah Valley, took a wild opening set, 32-30, took a commanding second set, 25-16 and closed out the match with an exciting 28-26 win in the third set for their 11th sweep of the season.
For the second time this season, sophomore outside hitter
Emery Harrison led the Trailblazers in kills with a career-high 12 while hitting .476.
Junior libero
Mya Laufiso led the way with 17 digs while
Tessa Treanor narrowly missed a double-double finishing with nine kills and 14 digs.
How It Happened
An back-and-forth opening opening set saw Tarleton State (14-9, 8-3 WAC) race out to an 8-5 lead only for the Trailblazers to answer back with a 9-0 run to jump ahead 14-8.
With the Trailblazers leading until the Texans tied the set at 21, UT was on the brin]k of set point leading 24-22 after a Tarleton attack error.
Staving off a Utah Tech set point five more times, Tarleton came back to tie the set at 30 before back-to-back kills by Treanor and
Casidy Fried gave UT the marathon opening set.
A kill by Fried got the second set started and with the Trailblazers leading 8-7, a 5-0 run for the Trailblazers pushed UT ahead 13-7 after a block by Harrison.
A 6-0 run for UT later in the set extended their lead to 22-12 and they went on to take the set by nine after a Tarleton attack error.
Another wild set ensued in the third set with the Trailblazers getting out to a 15-13 lead, but a 7-2 run for the Texans pushed Tarleton up 20-17.
A kill by the Texans pushed Tarleton ahead 23-20, but a pair of kills and an attack error tied the set at 23.
After ties at 24, 25, 26, a service error and an attack error by the Texans sealed the victory for the Trailblazers.
Numbers to Know
- Utah Tech led Tarleton in kills (47-35), digs (61-57), assists (40-34) & hitting percentage (.146-.066) while the Texans led in blocks (15-8) and the match was tied in service aces (4-4).
- It was the fourth straight win for Utah Tech over Tarleton State and UTÂ moves to 7-3 all-time against the Texans.
- The Trailblazers are 8-0 at home this season and go for their first perfect season at home in program history on Saturday against UT Arlington.
- Utah Tech has secured at least 18 wins for the sixth time in its 20 seasons in the NCAA.
