(Arlington, Texas - Nov. 3, 2025) – Utah Tech's
Lataya Brost was selected as the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Offensive Player of the Week, the Western Athletic Conference announced on Monday. It's Brost's first career selection and UT's fifth WAC weekly honor this season.
Brost, a redshirt sophomore forward, led the Trailblazers to an 8-1 victory over rival Southern Utah on Sunday night. She netted the 16th hat trick in program history, third in the Division I era, and set the DI era record for points in a game with seven, tying for third all-time.
Brost scored her first goal in the 38th minute, burying a left-footed shot from a cross into the box by junior forward
Ella Rusick to make it 4-1 Utah Tech. Senior forward
Kearney Hoggan earned a second assist by setting up Rusick.
In the 54th minute, Brost notched her second goal, putting Utah Tech up 6-1. She curled in a right-footed shot over the T-Bird GK from the right side of the box off an assist by senior forward
Lacy Fox.
Sophomore forward
Lexi Nelson scored her first career goal to increase the UT lead to 7-1 in the 60th minute. On a UT corner kick, Brost sent a cross toward the far post, and Nelson flew into the penalty area, heading the ball past the goal line. It was Brost's fifth assist of the season.
Brost tallied her first career hat trick in the 61st minute. Shortly after SUU's kickoff, freshman forward
Brooke Hendricks intercepted a T-Bird pass, playing the ball forward to Brost. She hit a right-footer into the top right corner of the net from the top of the box for her third goal of the match and fifth goal of the season.
Utah Tech is back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 5, against No. 2-seed California Baptist in the semifinals of the 2025 WAC Women's Soccer Tournament. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at UCCU Stadium in Orem, Utah, and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
