Trailblazers Drop Road Finale at Utah Valley, 3-0

(Orem, Utah - Oct. 27, 2025) – Utah Tech women's soccer dropped its road finale at Utah Valley, 3-0, on Monday night at UCCU Stadium. Senior goalkeeper Brianna Frey totaled eight saves in the effort.

The Trailblazers (7-7-4, 3-4-2 WAC) notched the first shot on goal in the third minute. Senior forward Lacy Fox put one on target toward the right side of the frame, but UVU senior goalkeeper Leah Wolf fell on the deflected shot to make the save.

Utah Valley (11-4-2, 7-0-1 WAC) took an early 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. UVU senior midfielder/forward Ruby Hladek hit a right-footer into the right side of the goal from just outside the penalty area, capitalizing on some crisp passes from graduate forward Faith Webber and redshirt sophomore midfielder Josie Shepherd.

Frey earned her first save of the match in the 14th minute, stopping a right-footed chance by Webber.

In the 42nd minute, UVU junior midfielder/defender Jacey Wood was denied by Frey on a long shot down the middle.

Junior forward Ella Rusick tested Wolf inside the box in the 43rd minute, but the UVU goalkeeper dove to her left to make the save.

The Trailblazers kept the high-powered Wolverines offense to just two shots on goal from nine shots through the first 45 minutes.

Redshirt sophomore forward Lataya Brost fired a low shot from outside the box in the 53rd minute. Wolf protected her near post to make the save.

Frey corralled a volley on frame from UVU senior forward/midfielder Marie Quentel in the 55th minute.

In the 58th minute, freshman forward Jocelyn Wright was stopped by Wolf on a left-footed shot inside the box.

Frey stayed in front of a powerful shot by Webber inside the box in the 60th minute.

In the 65th minute, Frey swatted away a header by UVU junior defender Mia Owens off a corner kick.

Frey survived a barrage of Wolverine shots in the 68th minute. Hladek's initial shot was stopped by a couple of Trailblazer defenders and Frey denied Webber on a second chance shot. A third shot by UVU senior midfielder Sierra Pennock was blocked by the Trailblazers.

Hladek scored a brace in the 74th minute to extend the Utah Valley lead to 2-0. Just left of the penalty spot, Hladek buried a right-footer past Frey for her second goal of the night. Shepherd and UVU junior forward Nixan Jackson assisted on the goal.

Frey stopped a shot by Jackson just a minute later, before senior midfielder Kyah Le challenged Wolf to no avail.

Webber added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute, extending the Wolverines' lead to 3-0. She headed in a cross just inside the penalty area by the left post. Pennock and UVU junior forward Sadie Beardall earned assists.

Senior forward Indie Winterton fired the Trailblazers final shot in the 86th minute. Wolf made her sixth and final save on the chance.

Frey stopped Webber for a final time in the 89th minute.

Utah Valley outshot Utah Tech 32-12 with a 12-6 edge in shots on goal.
