(Abilene, Texas - Nov. 21, 2025) - The Trailblazers swept No. 3 seed Tarleton State on Friday afternoon to advance to the finals of the WAC Tournament at Moody Coliseum.
Moving on to Saturday night's WAC Tournament final against No. 1 seed Utah Valley, Utah Tech (21-5) completed its 13th sweep of the season taking sets, 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 over Tarleton State (16-10).
Led by junior outside hitter
Tessa Treanor in kills for a second straight match with 12,
Emery Harrison and
Nana Asiata each tallied nine kills apiece.
Marley Roe tacked on a team-leading 23 assists and
Mya Laufiso chipped in a team-best 12 digs.
Casidy Fried notched a team-high five blocks, including a pair of solo stops, and added three kills.
How It Happened
An even start to the opening set saw a 10-10 tie with back-to-back kills by
Sydney Reese and Asiata and a Texan attack error gave the Trailblazers a 13-10 lead.
Holding the lead the rest of the set, UT pushed their lead to 19-15 after a kill from
Taylor Snow and after a 5-2 run for Tarleton brought the Texans within one (21-20), the Trailblazers closed out the set with the final four points capped off by a kill from Treanor.
A kill by Treanor got the second set underway and a kill by Harrison pushed the UT lead to 15-10 midway through second set.
A 4-1 run for the Texans brought Tarleton within a pair (16-14) and after Tarleton remained close staying within three (19-16), the Trailblazers finished out the set on a hot streak going on a 6-1 run finished off with a kill by Asiata.
Looking to close out the match in the third set, a 7-7 tie got the set started with the Trailblazers going on a 7-1 run to jump ahead 14-8 after a service ace by Treanor.
With the Texans closing the gap to 15-10, a 6-1 run for UT extended their lead to 21-11 after a Texan attack error. A kill by
Kennedi Knudsen completed the sweep for the Trailblazers.

- The Trailblazers extend their winning streak over the Texans to four and improve to 7-3 all-time against Tarleton State.
- As a team, Utah Tech led in kills (41-36), service aces (7-1), blocks (9-3), digs (47-42) and hitting percentage (.317-.137).
- The 21 wins on the season are now the the third-most in a single season only topped by 22 apiece in 2014 & 2018.
- The 13 sweeps on the season are tied for the second-most in a single season with 2016 & 2018 and one shy of the program record of 14 set in 2011.
- Utah Tech is in the finals of a conference tournament for the first time in program history.
