Trailblazers Notch 10th Sweep of Season Knocking Off Thunderbirds

Utah Tech stays perfect at home moving to 7-0 on the season.

(St. George, Utah - Nov. 1, 2025) - The Trailblazers stayed perfect at home on the season on Saturday night sweeping Southern Utah at Burns Arena.

Utah Tech (16-5, 7-2 WAC) took sets, 25-16, 25-15, 25-19 over Southern Utah (2-18, 1-8 WAC) while leading the Thunderbirds in hitting percentage (.277-.038), kills (43-26), blocks (11-7), assists (41-23) & digs (50-36).

Led a career-high nine kills by sophomore outside hitter Emery Harrison, the Trailblazers also got nine kills from Nana Asiata along with seven apiece by Taylor Snow and Sydney Reese.

Marley Roe tallied a team-best 19 assists while Fried led the way defensively with six blocks.

Mya Laufiso added a team-best 18 digs, her third-most in a match this season and most since Sept. 20 at Air Force.

How It Happened
Jumping out to a 10-7 lead in the opening set after a service ace by Roe, the Trailblazers pushed their lead to 18-14 after a pair of blocks by Fried and Reese.

The Trailblazers closed out the set on a 7-2 run capped off by a kill from Tessa Treanor.

A kill by Roe got the second set underway for UT with a 5-0 run midway through the set taking a 9-8 lead to 14-8 after a kill by Treanor.

A 5-2 run for SUU brought the Thunderbirds back within three (16-13), but the Trailblazers closed out the set on a 9-2 run to take the set, 25-15 punctuated by a kill from Reese.

A back-and-forth start to the third set saw the Thunderbirds take a slight 15-14 lead.

Three straight points for UT put the Trailblazers ahead by a pair and after SUU got within one (18-17), UT closed out the set on a 7-2 run finished off by a kill from Treanor to complete their 10th sweep of the season.

The Trailblazers play their final regular season road contest next Saturday at California Baptist (6-15, 2-7 WAC).
